Portway, Portway!

Well I thought that Ports had retired, but there he is on page 12 of today's NLP. Apparently he scored the winner for Maldon Town in the 2-1 win over Soham Town Rangers in the Ridgeons Eastern League Cup final (it's definitely him, he's clearly visible in the front row of the team photo after the game).

Also, the NLP reports that Liam has been put on stand-by for the England National Game XI matches in the Four Nations Championship and a friendly in the USA. I'm sure that the fact that the Barnet caretaker manager and the England boss are one and the same person has nothing to do with it.

Looking at the Maldon website, it appears Portway first played for them in Oct last year, scoring against Kings Lynn.

It doesnt look as though he played more than a handful of games for them, as he has fewer than 10 league goals according to the leading goalscorer list for the league this season.

Mind you, their team scored 100 league goals anyway, and finished second in the league, so they probably didnt need him anyway !!
