Right naming no names - Tesco's, Why do you close the tills down of a night so that there are only one open. You que 4 deep.

 

I thought the idea of late night shopping after 11pm, I went at 1.30 am to avoid the crowds, was that you could go straight in and straight out, if I knew I was going to have to f@nny about, I would of gone in the middle of Sunday afternoon, ok more people, but more tills.

 

Last night - waste of time.

He'll ALWAYS open a till for you, even if it is J.S. Sainsbury's

You called?! Sainsburys is only open till 10 in Gravesend though..but they do have a policy if the queue is above a certain length(2 or 4 people i think it is?)they have to open another till..if they can they will do that at our store,but not sure if they do around the country....

Sainsburys !

 

During The Half Term Holiday I Went In Sainsburys And Bought A Couple Of Bottles Of Sainsburys Lemonade At 15p A Bottle Which Is Very Reasonable But Also Very Gassy !

 

I Loved The Self Checkouts At The My Local Branch (Hornchurch) You Scan Your Own Items And Pay For Them Afterwards All Very Easy ! It's Just Like Working At The Till ! I Think I Might Get A Job On The Till's !

Years back I used to work in the Sainsbury's in Hornchurch. It was full of students at that time, and we used to have a great laugh...even though the manager was a strict ba5tard.

Come to think of it....he probably HAD to be strict with us!

 

But I agree FB...shelf stacking and other jobs, like working in the warehouse.....even trolley collecting..are infinantly superior to the dull humdrum of till work.

 

To get out of doing it I displayed such glowing incompetence [deliberate I might add] that they only put me on the tills once! As I say: It's not what you know...but who you choose to tell! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

As for those self-service tills...I refuse to use those on the basis that if they become too commonplace then people may end up losing out on jobs.

 

Also, if I were to use them....I think I should be entitled to a discount for reducing Sainsbury's labour costs.

I wouldn't dream of putting something in my trolley that I had not paid for, but let's assume some people will scan some of the items in their trolley and not the rest.

 

So Sainsburys will have to employ someone to either watch a Tv monitor or watch you scan everything, that person would sit in the same chair that they were in originally. Only difference is they used to scan for you.

 

If you worked for them, the boredom factor of not even picking up a tin and putting it back on the conveyerbelt would be mind blowing.

 

Don't think it will catch on. They will try and off load it on us.

In our local Sainsbury there is a woman who oversees 4 of these self-scanning machines...so effectively she is doing the job of 4 other till workers.

Also noticed the security guard stands close to these machines....which is another reason for me not using them, as I don't like being eyed up suspiciously by some jumped up little pr1ck with a uniform on.....even though I'm an honest character!
