First AFC Wimbledon game

Sutton United will play AFC Wimbledon in their first ever match on wednesday july 10th at Gander Green Lane, Sutton with a 7:30pm kick-off.

Last time we met properly (not including the 3 friendlies over the last 4 years, don't want to count those) was 75/76, FA Trophy 1st round. 0-0 at Sutton, 3-1 to the Dons in the replay at Plough Lane... and Dagenham put us out in the second round. Yeah, all this rivaly took place a decade or more before i was born, but i've heard the stroies enjoyed the friendlys (and the amount of Don's fans attending)

Funny thing is that our local rivals Carsh*ton Arepathtic are hosting the frankenstien team on the same night. I think it will be the first time ever a friendly between 2 non-league teams will attract more than a friendly involving a 1st divison team.

I think things are going to be a little manic and weird for a while for a fair few Wombles, it's a very odd situation being effectively relegated 6 levels in one go. It'll be especially odd for those who didn't go to Plough Lane ever. I'm looking forward to next season *far* more than I remember looking forward to a new season in the last few years, though. Some new grounds, some new friends, some new (and old) rivals, some new songs and some real passion. Sounds good to me.
