Canvey Stadium dreams shattered by one man! It beggars belief that one man has the recommending power of whether a development goes forward or not! It seems that previous housing developments have been allowed to proceed on previous green belt land and yet the question of FLOOD Risk and TRAFFIC implications are used as reasons to bring doubt on a football stadium being built on a sports and recreation area. Just what is this man about?? Whilst housing applications are being allowed to go through month by month, why isn’t the flooding and traffic implication ever considered for these developments too!
I seem to recall a recent article in one of the local papers where it was suggested that this man is overstepping his powers! Now I know why!

It was in tonight`s Echo. Apparently the government have a rule that no green belt land can be used to build new football stadia, our plans include the use of some greenbelt land. No final decision has been made yet and the club said they await the verdict.

The council still appear to be offering land at Northwick but the club want Waterside, looks like it`s going to take some sorting out.

You only have to look at what's happened to Margate to realise that councils can totally screw the aspirations of football clubs.
