GUILTY!!! What a load of c***!

Recommended Posts

Right, time for a rant at the British scum press and all Brits who put our top sports stars down when things get tough.

One of the national dailies has a big heading on it's back page slagging off Henman, Vaughan, Dallagilo (not sure about the spelling) and Beckham. Well, a few points:

1) Tim Henman has been the only British player in recent times to make a real success in this sport. He has been a top ten player for many years now (apart from when injured). He has also been the world's most consistent player at Wimbledon for the last ten years nearly always making the quarter and semi finals. Tennis is never player in leagues where you can afford a loss and still make it to the next round (Portugal and England in Euro 2004 spring to mind). if you get beaten in a tournament you are out! He cannot hide behind team mates in a match as it is a solo sport. He is our top player and done his country proud over the years so don't knock him!

2)Vaughan was heralded a big success in the last few months as he captained England to a fantastic win in the Windies and then we beat NZ. Agreed, in one day cricket we must improve and the team selection was rough but for pete's sake stop slagging off our national cricet side who have improved so much in recent years. It wasn't that long ago that Nasser took us to the Indian sub-continent where we did brilliantly. Everyone was singing the teams praises and then we got beaten by the Aussies, one of the best cricketing sides ever.

3) Isn't time a funny thing. Not long ago London stopped when our rugby team won the world cup. Dagllalio was one of the coutry's favourites after his passion against the frogs. Now, after a run of poor form down under the critisism being levelled at him and the rest of the team is way OTT. They have been the victim of injuries and a number of the top, older players have retired. Woodward is building a new team but needs time. The time to really peak is at the next World Cup.

4)...and finally, Beckham. A guy who in '98 was derided by the whole country but showed great character to pick himself up and prove what a good player he is (note, I said good and not great). His passion and commitment got us to the last World Cup (who can forget that goal against Greece). Yes, he's had a run of poor form and does need to sort out his private and commenrcial life but come on, is he really now an enemy of the state.

The people to really have a go at are those that run our British scum press who love to build people up and then put them down again in the most obnoxious manner. GET BEHIND OUR SPORTS MEN AND WOMEN.

OK, DISCUSS!

well as for Becks, well its him and about six or seven other players who can shoulder the blame for Euro 2004. The thing is, the media are only there to build you up then break you down. The music press do this all the time, and the sporting media is exactly the same. Rather than doing the mature thing and breaking down exactly what went wrong, they'll string someone out to dry no matter what.

The Davis Cup doesn't exist then?

He is well past his sell by date for England and the Swede should be looking for a replacement!

98 was 6 years ago.......not many GREAT players go on for that amount of time.......and as you rightfully say...Beckham WAS/IS/NEVER will be great!

At the end of the day, Journo's are employed to SELL their newspapers, so if they can get a bit of controversy going - They will.

One interesting fact in yesterdays press. Our beloved (NOT), referee who hails from Switzerland has been told by his local police not to return home for a few weeks after Euro 2004, as they have received death threats.

One wonders why ??????????????????

Is anyone actually brave enough to say that maybe the teams/players got beaten by the better team?

If a match goes to penalties, the teams are usually fairly even, and that is the impression I had in this match. Because it is a knock-out, one team is lucky and the other is unlucky.

Yes, of course it exists but it is not the crowning glory for a tennis player to win the Davis Cup. The crowning glory are the slams, the same way that the crwoning glory in football is the Wold and Europens champs.

  • 2 weeks later...

cricket.. i think we have done really well recently, fk some crappy one dayers, bring on the oz scum in a test series..at last we have some bowlers who may worry them

rugby.. we are the world champions the rest of the season was always going to be a write off.. bring in the next generation now, at the expense of a season or two, to build the next world cup squad.

football.. ok you can agree or disagree but i thought we were very average.. worse than that tho was the apalling negative way we played.. when we went out i almost breathed a sigh of relief that i wouldnt have to endure another ninty minutes of the crap we were dishing up. beckham was very poor, should have been taken of after 60 minutes n told that before kick off so he didnt try to pace himself..also if you live by the media you get it in the [****!!****] by the media, thats just the way it goes..

henman.. im sorry but i just think the bloke is a c..k.. im glad he lost.. fk all the union jacks, he is playing for himself not britain.. the davis cup is the place for all that sh.t
