All the other BIG cities could build the same facilities as London..........then the griping about London having everything would cease.....and the UK might(i say might) produce more Olympic and world champions!

It is about time people like Coe and Livingston come down from their ivory towers and remembered that London is a living, working city NOT an extension of their own private playgrounds.

Been playing too much Sim City I reckon.

Seriously..I'm yet to be convinced that this a good idea.
I mean...if East London desperately needs cheap housing, sports and recreational facilities, and better transport links then why not just go ahead with building them, and why do we have to have the Olympics as a fcking excuse?

They'll spend several £million's on a bid that will be rejected. Money that would be better off ploughed into said improvements to the area.

The only people who earn from the Olympics are IOC members.

I dunno about that one. I believe Kelly Holmes is in line to earn a fortune following her success and good luck to her. A Brit and a winner!

... it isn't him who will have to pay, anyway. There's nothing easier than spending other people's money! Irresponsibly!

I think this is a great idea, Andrew. Let him have 0.5% of the profits or losses. That would be a great incentive to get the Games to London and make a profit for the taxpayers.
