F/T Carlisle United 0-0 Canvey Island

Listened to the game on the Radio, Well Done Gulls!!!

I wonder, how significant this point would be at the end of the Season for both teams. Appreciate the recognition from the Carlisle fans for our efforts today!!

Well done lads and well done to those who went up there. Listened on radio via BBC Essex (longwave) and although the carlise crowd (which I hear totalled about 7300 I could see hear the Yellow Army and Fred the bugler. Sounds like we missed a few chances but then so did they. I think a few expected us to be a walk over being the newly promoted side but you proved them wrong.

I enjoyed the game today, two sides who played football and both missed loads of chances.

Fantastic atmosphere. Seemed perhaps not quite 100 Canvey fans there. Hope they enjoyed it.

CUFC started well and threatened to run away with it. I thought Canvey were nervous and not in it for the 1st 20 mins but we missed several chances and let you off the hook. After that it was pretty even with both sides again missing a load of chances. Two clubs who've arrived at this level from opposite directions (30 years ago we were beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge!) but now are quite evenly matched I'd say.

Be interesting to know what the travelling fans made of it all. Comparing it with our experiences in the league I'd say that today there was more time and space, mistakes weren't punished as much, but that it was more entertaining in many ways with less intensity.

Your keeper had a blinder and I thought Boylan looked sharp (we could do with him to finish our chances!).

Hope it goes well for the rest of the season. It's hard to tell but I should think you've got enough in your team to be top half or better - which probably applies to us too (we are not quite as good as many think we are) at this moment.

all the best

Funny, I was there and I never heard the 57 Canvey fans once.
I could see 10ish of they waving their arms ocassionally but not much else...However credit to those Canvey Fans that could be bothered making the trip.

As for this talk of walkovers.....cut it out...the majority of carlisle fans know it's not going to be.

Potter made 4 or 5 excellent saves to keep you in it. Your star striker missed two absolute gifts by blazing his shots over the bar from 4 & 6 yards.
Certainly not the best perfromance I've seen from Carlisle but certainly not the worst either.

Good luck for both sides for the rest of the season.

One of them was me, waving my arms about! Did enough singing and a lot of shouting. Nearly lost my voice!!!

Yeah, it was excellent. Brunton Park is an impressive ground and at the start your supporters were deafening. Thanks for the hospitality. Really appreciated the best wishes we got from your support.

Good luck for the rest of the season. See you Good Friday.

Yes top pics, nice to see some pics of the yellow army there.

Have to say how impressed ive been by posts here by the Carlisle fans on here. So nice to have some constructive comments by our opponents compared to the pathetic postings we are used to from the likes of Billercay and Southend fans.

Good luck for the rest of the season. Ive no doubt your team will be right up there at the end of the season.
