58 YEARS we've been in existance, and how far have we gone,i'll tell you..nowhere.We started in the Southern League, and are now in the Conference, perhaps a slight improvement, but in 58 YEARS !!Do you all want another 58 years of the same.A radical rethink is needed and this MIGHT be the time to take that step.We have a great Manager, the best, though I don't always agree with him(I would have kept Rob Haworth and Ben Abbey, who I thought was improving with every game).THIS IS THE TIME,let's go for it.

2 words..... 'Dartford' & 'Maidstone'.

How the hell is playing in a 28,000 capacity stadium will a crowd of just 2,000 tops gonna help us? It would be like a bloody morgue every week. You think that the Gillingham fans would come to see us when The Gills were away? I think not. If the ground sharing idea happened we'd be regarded as some sort of reserve squad. The club would lose it's identity.

I'll tell you the best idea (suggested to me by Dave the other night) - our chairman hijacks Scally's idea's, creates our own little 'GNFC Village' with lots of houses to sell to pay for the whole development.

To alter a saying: 'If you can't join them, beat them'!

PS You're not livening anything up - merely showing yourself to be a misguided fool.

In 57/58 season the Fleet won the Southern League Championship, if it had been today we would have been placed in the Football League. In those days the Old Pals Act of voting back in the bottom club in Division 4 was prevalant.
The hardcore fans have always been ambitious, this Management SEEM to have their heads screwed on.But Ground sharing with Gillingham is not a step in the right direction.Slowly, Slowly, Catchy Monkey!

Anyway why not have a small version,10-15000 with provision to expand.

Ah, you see that's not in Scally's plans, and if it's not in Scally's plans, then there's no chance it's happening.

Are you understanding this yet...?

Have you seen the plans then and what is proposed.Inside info I suppose? It's all guess work, let's wait and see what evolves

No, but it is quite clear from everything that's been said on the subject of Gillingham's new ground that they're talking 25,000 seats at least, otherwise they wouldn't be bothering to move in the first place. Scally isn't coming here for the good of Gravesend & Northfleet, he's coming here to expand his business portfolio into housing, leisure, casinos, etc.

Lock up your club! There’s a Scally in town!
And he’s hell-bent on making the Fleet fans frown.

With his peculiar notion that the Gills could uproot
To play in Gravesham (to make him more loot!)
Now he’s convinced that it’s in our club’s interest,
To listen to the schemes that he suggests.

So…“Can we see the plans? What is proposed?”
"Confidential information," I suppose
The council will retort, “You don’t need to know.”
But I'm not convinced. Is this merely for show?

When will they sell us down the river Thames?
‘bout the same time as the Gills tenure ends
At Priestfield, the ground that they cannot fill now?
Why would the council respond with a kowtow?

Northfleet is the second biggest club in Kent,
(Well – ‘tis now that Dover and Margate are spent!)
It’s high time the council paid us our dues,
And kept us abreast of the latest news.

If we keep getting results, then bigger crowds will come,
Maybe not overnight, but then there are some
In Gravesend who chortle at the mention of The Fleet.
So come down and watch. Get out of your seat!

Leave your Chelsea, Arsenal and Sky just for one day,
Be entertained, enthralled: Watch the mighty Fleet play!
If Scally persists in this ridiculous scheme,
Then Gravesend might not realise their dream.

We have had success in latter seasons,
With Fordy on board there’s no real reasons
Why we cannot continue, strive and become great.
(Unlike the Gills, punching above their weight!)

So that’s why we should ignore this overture,
Cos its’ Scally by name, and scally by nature!

Abbey - Haworth??!!

Dont you think Roy Manny Drury Moussa are a massive step above those names??!!

However, I do think the squad is looking a bit threadbare forwards-wise at present. I'm not saying that Haworth is a world-beater or anything, but if he were in the squad (or at least a player like him) we would have some back-up for Roy. If Roy gets injured, I just feel that we would really struggle to adequately replace him at present.

As for us having a 10000-15000 capacity stadium and 'working up from there', do you not think this is just a tad unrealistic given our current fanbase, Roy GNFC?

B*gger my old boots !! Someone else liked Ben Abbey.....and there was me thinking I was his only fan last year !! I might even wear the shirt this Saturday !!

I think Ben was harshly judged last season ( oh...by the way...look forward to the Ford out meetings in the Plough when we lose !!). However, in my opinion, ( I like to use the Queen's English and not all that abbreviated excreta) the squad is far stronger than last year, but that does not stop me thinking Abbey was ok !

Oops....forgotten the reason of the thread already !!

Scally...NNNOOO ! Gillingham....NNOOO !! God didn't make the Medway by accident !! Keep to your side of it please Mr Scallywag !!

Fight them on the beaches....call all good men to arms....man the barricades....never, NEVER...shall we be invaded !!

Cheers,

Is there anything we can actually do to stop the propositions apart from talking about what could happen on the forum? (I don't mean that sarcastically either!) Could we organize petitions, posters, letters to the council etc? I know those ideas are a bit far-fetched but when our directors shun the idea, the council will turn their backs on us, we will have no support outside of GNFC. Any more ideas?

There was a fair percentage of Ben fans on the terraces , and I was one of them, but unfortunately we got drowned out by the more vocal amongst us, especially the Ford out campaign.

Could do with him back now, not saying that he would start every week but would be an ideal person to bring on.

Should be seeing quite a bit of him this year, as he is coaching/managing the u'13s at the club where my boys are at this coming season. Just hope he ain't teaching them how to take penalties !!!

Up the Fleet - Unbeaten in 15 now ..
