Canvey are Cr*p

Or so every team we have played would make us believe.

Did any one else listen to Dean Austin, the Farnborough managers, comments on Southern Counties Radio on the way back?

He sounded pretty p*****d off but was asked if the result was down to the "quality of the opposition"?

He paused for a moment and then said "No" he felt Farnborough had gone back to the bad habits and pressed the self destruct button.

There were some good points and a fair few bad points about Canveys performance today - but what needles me is that every team we have played have knocked our performance one way or another.

All this and we have one league defeat - we must be doing something right - aren't we? or are we just around the corner from an almighty shock........

im a farnborough town fan and i can honestly say that im gutted we didn't get anything out of the game. we started of very poorly and you did well to punish us for that with 2 early goals. when we got one back i thought at that time we were finally settling in the game and put your team off. however, i do believe some of canvey's build-up play looked good, but at times your defence chose to hoof the ball up the park, and until the second half, looked very unsettled whenever we put the pressure on. so 3 sloppy goals at half time, and a result that wasnt great. the game was very sloppy and i dont think either team had a real edge about them but i do feel that farnborough looked a bit more effective when attacking. second half i think canvey didnt look strong at all. farnborough dominated most of the half, but really didn't have a clue how to find the net. towards the end-ish your defence strengthened and canvey began to get their shape again and came close on a few occasions and caught us with a good goal that saw our defence napping. i think that canvey were a bit lucky not to concede more and at times same with us, but i thought farnborough looked the better team on the day football wise. but all credit to you guys, you did well not to concede at times and took your chances and thats what football is about. nice to hear that trumpet again since last year where it really rubbed the result in

the referee though! dreadful. i know in the second half he looked biased against you but throughout the game he was dreadful towards us. sasha opinel booked for winning the ball and alot of fouls and handballs not seen. however, that happens in football and we must get on with it.

hope you enjoyed your trip, i hope to make another trip to canvey this year so good luck until then!

Not a bad description of the game.

Wouldn't say Farnborough looked any more effective when attacking though - score line reflects that

We were weaker in the second half and when we did get the 3rd it did really kill the game - certainly needed it.

Wouldn't agree that Farnborough looked the better footballing team on the day either - think we will chose to differ on that point.

Do agree about the officials - dreadful to both teams on all forms of decision - ref didn't get any support from his linesmen either - assuming he would take any notice.

My point was I have read and heard numerous comments from fans/managers etc. of all the teams we have played. Everyone has knocked us or put us down. I have not been impressed by most of the teams we have played, they can't all be having a bad day, and in the end we have gained a point or points in all but 1 game - we must be doing something right - surely?

Hope Farnborough sort out the issues to the benefit of the fans and club. Good luck.

maybe we didnt dominate as the scoreline suggests, but its three more lovely 'away' points..and importantly against a team we would have been expecting to be at the same level as us, come seasons end..

two tough home games to come.. lets see if we can fluke, scrap and luck out way to our first home win ;-)

And what was that about Boylan being rubbish this season? 6 goals in 7 games (7 in 8 if you include the one in the Ryman Charity shield)

The guy is unbelievable.

I agree for most of the game Farnborough did look the better side, we gave away possession every time we got it (usually by a Peter Kay 'ave it' moment) but every now and then (not often enough) we got the ball on the floor played some nice passing football, and every time that happened we tore Farnborough apart and had a chance on goal. But as I say that was far from often enough, the rest of the time we look distracted and like we didn’t want to be there, but who can blame the players for that, a crash and those horrible kits will do that for you.

Apart from the rather poor game which quietened the crowd for both sides, its was a nice day out. As always felt welcome and the Farnborough ground, drinking in the club house with the home fans was nice and it was great to be able to swap ends at half time again. The burgers were a bit iffy, and I remembered them being nice. Oh well can’t have it all, we got 3 points that’s the nice thing

Hope all works out well for Farnborough. It will be terrible to see a club suffer and Theo comes through rightful victor

I glad you enjoyed your visit to us yesterday.I am proud of the fact that away supporters can mingle and change ends at half time.thought your support was superb, and on the pitch I think you have a strong team that will be in the top 6 at the end ot the season. For all our problems we have , I dont think we are too many players short of having a good side.
