Burton v Gravesend kick off time

Any idea why your club won't alter the kick off time of this game so that it doesn't clash with the England v Wales game.

I am sure both sets of fans would like to see both games. In all fairness only about 50 away fans would make the trip so it wouldn't be too much inconvenience whilst Burton stand to lose a lot of money if home fans decide to stay at home.

If your chairman wanted to move it to Friday night its not the 50 fans being unable to go that worries us as much as the 16 players who have to work on Friday.

it seems a bit unfair that we are on the same time as england Vs wales, but surely its the fault of the league. did they not know that the game was on that day, the draw and fixtures for the qualifiers was made long before the league fixturew were set out wern't they?

i take it that means that fans have to choose between the two mighty sides, the Fleet and England!

Actually it's the fault of the FA. The is no good reason why the match has to be on the Saturday afternoon which affects EVERY club below the Championship.

With no Premiership matches why not play the England match on the Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon.

Anyway I spoke to Roly and he told me that the request from Burton came very late, and they wanted to move it forward to an earlier kick-off. Andy refused on the basis that this would mean the players getting up at about 5:00am, and he wasn't prepared to do that, and it was not worth the cost of an overnight stay.

In 2002/2003 we agreed to play at Kettering at 1pm on the Saturday of an England game I seem to remember - but as you say Dave, there is a longer travelling distance in this case. I also remember the players staying overnight for the Burton FA Cup tie the season before - but of course that was in our Ryman days when overnight travel for away games wasn't at all necessary in the so-called 'M25 League', and so we could afford the luxury for just that one match.

Of course, as Dave rightly says, it's the FA's fault for putting the England game at 3pm in the first place. Premiership games cannot be shown live on TV 3pm on a Saturday, in order to stop smaller teams losing fans to the telly, so why should an England game be?

Anyway, if it comes down to a choice between England and the Fleet, I'd go for the Fleet every time.

Which is the real reason the Eurpean Championships & World Cup are held in the summer - it's to accomodate us Fleet fans!

Talking of which - I will be missing the game against Leigh.

Daughter in hospital for op next week & the only way I could get the shifts I need next week was to swap this week's too.

Still, at least I got out of the 9 days of getting up at 4.45am.....

From what I can see it looks as though the English FA(how can you respect an organisation that carries desperate David Davies) is the only one in Europe that schedules home games for 3.p.m. on a Saturday. Why the FA couldn't have arranged a 12 noon kick off on a Saturday, an 8.p.m. kick off on oa Saturday or a Sunday kickk off at 12 noon, 2.p.m. ,or 4.p.m. is beyond me.

It just proves the FA is run by and for the Premiersdhip clubs with no thought for the game lower down the pyramid.

For the sake of moving the kick off time of one fixture they have ruined a day's entertainment for tens of thousands of REAL football fans.

Wake up Mr Davies - there is life beyond Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford!!

a) England won't lose to Wales anyway &

B) to the FA....more thought & organisation & less sh*gging the secretaries please...then we might get somewhere....or you could let me sh*g the secretaries whilst you continue to operate marginally less well than a pile of excrement !!

Regards,
