Admission prices

Now that we have the opportunity to debate the subject without any input from the mindless idiots who try to dominate our board, I was wondering, just what is the feeling amongst Canvey fans re. the rather expensive admission prices planned for Park Lane in 2002/03?

I feel particularly peeved that there is no opportunity for a standing fan, i.e. Yellow Army, to buy a season ticket and enjoy some kind of financial benefit.

Perhaps I should declare an interest here and say that, as I have a well paid job, the difference between £7 or £9 isn't going to change my lifestyle. How do others feel?

What I would suggest is perhaps a mistake by the club is that they are not showing enough respect for the fans. In my humble opinion those lads (and lasses) who manage to get to most away games and who took time off work to get down to Yeovil on a Tuesday night deserve some sort of explanation as to why they are being asked to pay the same prices as most Conference clubs and more than most Ryman clubs. Even the prices in the bar are high, at £2.30 for a pint.

Perhaps a word from Jeff, by way of explanation, might have oiled the wheels a tad. Now we have a supporters club, a message explaining the club's point of view could have been circulated via a newsletter. Although I hate the John Crawshaw brigade, it's difficult to prove them wrong when they make sweeping statements about prices at Park Lane. Anyone agree/disagree?

There, I've put my head above the parapet. I'm sure someone will take a swipe at me. Any real Canvey fans got an opinion?

I suppose with the excellent news that 'kid for a quid' will be available, they have to balance the scales abit. For me and the 'flock' the overall price remains the same. The problem is that it may deter possible new fans from turning up. If you look around the professional clubs they have various schemes like ours to lure the young ones in, as they know it makes sense for the future. This is a good start, but the club needs to drum up other incentives that produce little 'token' deals for regulars and potential newies. Prior to all this though - the first implementation should be an extended 'Happy Hour' to welcome the installation of Draught Guinness in the Club House. <img src="/forums/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />
