didnt see saturdays match due to being an international playboy i was out of the country ... using mervs unbiased opinion i see its still business as usual.. good players but something missing.. we have covered most of the ground, players out of position, boylan on the bench,holding/creative midfielder required etc etc blah blah..

i also add our inability to break quickly from periods of sustained defence.. watch arsenal move it to feet from the back after sucking the opposition forward, perfect for the 8/9 man defences we have to cope with at park lane... im not saying we do this all the time but we need to add it into the mix to keep the oppostion guessing.. we seem to either play it slowly from the back giving the purfleets of this league time to organise or hoof it.. both these tactics have there place but with the 2 alone we look predictable.. roll on tuesday a nice 6 niller to get the lads back on song <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif" alt="" />

Canv we insist on mid-field players who must pose or do a trick when receiving, we used to call them school boy players (excluding Duffers or JK)

If you are seeking quick raids then one touch control and pass and athletic movement (off the ball)

That need for athletic movement off the ball may be a problem for one or two

Have to agree with you there pabird. The essence of our 'sexy' football last season stemmed from the one-touch and move into space style that we perfected. It is there in flashes sometimes this season but all too often a player receiving the ball waits too long before pushing it to the next man. Mind you, there were lots of occasions yesterday when the next man was still 10yds behind. This was especially true of Duffers in the second half but, hey, that's not a criticism. The boy done well, coming back from injury and all that.

The other thing we don't seem able to do, is switch from one flank to the other. There are few players with the accuracy to get the ball from the left midfield to the right attack. One exception to this is Benno. Some of his passes yesterday were magic. Hate to say this, but some of Proths long balls were quite the opposite (Matt will be on my back all week for saying that!)

I would like to think that at Stortford, Benno will play instead of Brennan. I feel Benno is much stronger, able and accurate in that position.
