No it is true. I wasn't there 'cos I thought it was Thursday nite. Bugger. What a sell out!!! I joked that would happen but would never believe it.
What a sell out!!!!
By the way, I'm sorry I wasn't there. I've got to get my calender sorted out.
I can't believe it. If Billericay gets anything decent Basildon has to to stop it and have it!!!
So why doesn't Rod call it Basildon United and have done!!!

I retract my last comments (again).
I have just had the whole of the situation explained to me. Why o why wasn't I there last nite. My fault, I got my dates and days mixed up (again).
Apparently we need 12 acres to have the stadium and New Lodge has only 6. So faced with that Basildon Council offered land at Gloucester Park and Rod, from what I was told, thought that if the club was going to progress from the Ryman league and be successful, we need the stadium.
Okay, I can see there are arguments for and against it but really looks like we were caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.
I would imagine that Rod knew there would be a ground swell against this idea but, what to do?
Next time, I shant have a knee jerk reaction.
Do I support the move? - Well I've been going down New Lodge since 1974, I dislike anything Basildon has done for Billericay, which is nothing, bugger all, except fleece us in Council tax. Anything Billericay has wanted to promote jobs or leisure Basildon have blocked it so....

I really don't know. I can't see the management really having any choice as there isn't the land in Billericay.
The sad day will be when we have to say goodbye to New Lodge.

I know this sounds snobbish, but I really don't like the idea of away fans having to visit Basildon and associate us with it.
I appreciate that there was very little else that could be done, but I think it will change the crowd and the club completely and not necessarily in a good way.
Did anyone else that was there think that Rod Moore was extremely aggressive towards anyone who asked questions?

Rod Moore is always aggessive about answering questions. But hey, ho, yep it will change the club, we will get more Basildon supporters and eventually we will be either Basildon Town or Basildon United.
Hey, be the first time that a smaller club has merged with a bigger club and got the name changed.
I read the Echo and Rod said that the club will keep it's identity. I beg to differ, New Lodge and it's surroundings remain a part of the identity of the club. Anyway, I suppose it is the price you pay for being part of Basildon Council.
Anyway, I can talk, I wasn't there. I missed it 'cos I forgot. Bugger!!!
Did the supporters club have any praise given to them by the club for their good work?

Yes they got some praise. However this mainly came from Gary Calder who said "I think that the supporter's association has done a fantastic job this year" or something along those lines. I don't remember Rod Moore saying anything about them though.
There was a little "moment" between the supporters club and Rod Moore, but I think maybe you should ask someone who was there about that rather than me write it on here. It woke us all up after the shock of BASILDON.

The name BILLERICAY TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB will not be changed, of that I'm very certain. When Chelmsford first came to New Lodge the scaremongers said that a merger was inevitable! Did it happen? No! The majority of the support will still be Billericay. If the club think hoardes of basildon people will turn up to watch Billericay, then I think they've mis-judged the situation. Building a fan-base in Baso will take in my opinion, years. And yes, Rod did thank the BTSA for thier work.

That's all it is Vic a rumour. Absolutely no truth in it whatsoever. To quote the chairman
quote:
we are and always will be Billericay Town F.C. a club I am proud to be Chairman of and a club I want you all as supporters to be proud to be part of ....there will be no sell out !!!!!!!

Yes I understand that, but how many times have we heard a chairman make a statement that has a double meaning, it will always be Billericay Town, then just drop the Town add another name, Billericay still features no one has told a direct lie. Don't forget Rushden & Diamonds, Dagenham & Redbridge, just a couple to name. Nearly always starts with a ground change and the other bits are stitched on because its gone too far to change things. I recall one of your attending members saying that Mr. Moore was a bit offish with questions put to him, is there then a underlying reason for his attitude, who knows!!

Am sure Basildon Council will enjoy a Football Club playing in the heart of Basildon, giving their name some media cover but not as just Billericay Town FC.

There is very often an element of truth in the substance and reason for a rumour!!

Ie none.

Well I love Basildon. The bars and clubs there make me very welcome, unlike Billericay where I am made to feel like an outsider - just because of the colour of my eye shadow.

I hope Billericay do move to Basildon and sooner, rather than later.

I've spent many a lovely evening in Gloucester Park.

This is all quite worrying but we Billericay supporters will have to is wait.

Those who don't like it, don't support the club.

My opinion is that the more of us that accept that WE are the identity of the club and look to keeping it by supporting it and working positivly from the inside, the less chance there is of Billericay Town FC becoming Billadon United or Basaricay Town!!!

What makes me laugh is that I joked about this happening and got told off by someone, who will remain nameless, that my comments were not welcome because it will never happen!!!

So make of that as you will....
