Stadium / Identity

Recommended Posts

In an idle moment just been thinking about the whole "preserving identity" thing wrt the new stadium. One thought that did cross my mind was that we should try and emphasise the Billericay link in the name of the new stadium - to me the "Gloucester Park stadium" says Basildon, whilst the (startlingly unoriginal I know) "Mayflower stadium" says Billericay. Anybody got any better ideas for the name?

This is incredible!

Two souls, one thought!

I was thinking in exactly the same manner as you, Simon, and was going to post a suggestion like yours, and I also thought that something with "Mayflower" in it should be obvious!

But you beat me there!

Incredible...

Really warming to the idea of the new ground now especially as we will be keeping New Lodge. We'll be one of the only clubs in Non-league to have a separate training ground and stadium, not on the same site.

I have also been thinking of the name. "Gloucester Park" would be a cop out and show a lack of originality. Anything to do with "New Lodge" would make confusion between the old ground. The "Mayflower Stadium" is a good idea but if not that what about naming it after one of the Billericay "legends" of the past e.g the 1970s Vase scorers.

Or perhaps the stands could be named after them or sponsored by companies.

The only problem with having a ground in Bas is that it will probably be burnt down within a week!
