Ryan, I take your point and hold my hands up to being an occasional visitor - yes you regulars have more right to criticise than me. But it still seems to me that if a town is not big enough to support a League club - and I doubt Billericay is - then simply moving to somewhere with a bigger potential fanbase is a betrayal of the local origins of the club. When all's said and done, there are 22 Conference teams and over 60 at the next level all with the same ambition - to fill one of the two places available in the League each season. The odds are stacked against Basericay ever doing it, ambition or not.

Support wise, I think Billericay could substain a Football League Club. New Lodge however can't, which is the whole crux of the matter isn't it? Moving to Baso (or South Billericay if you like) gives the club the chance to build a first class stadium that unfortunatley it can't do in Billericay. Should Billericay supporters be denied the prospect of higher league football because of a lack of land in the town? Don't get me wrong, I'm far from happy about losing BTFC out of Billericay, but there are valid and pratical reasons for doing so. There maybe 82 clubs viaing for 2 places, but only a few of those clubs will have the stadium and associated facilities to compete for them. Billericay will be one of them. Don't forget that BILLERICAY TOWN FC will still be your local football club!

Sorry to bring this whole arguement back into the light, but I cant understand how anyone can be opposed to a team having a future and having prospects. What is the point of just playing to satisfy a few? i go to watch BTFC because it has potential. If we take the view of 'we just want non-league', then what is the point of Town even buying players? You buy players to make a team stronger. So the people who are against Town getting better and want the team to disband, what do you think about buying the likes of Forrester and Brennan?

If you want a team with no will ambitons, then watch a boys team on a Sunday morning.

I too don't agree with the Globalisation of Sport, but look at the likes of Bradford. They are a team four divisions a head of BTFC, and they have to borrow money from the Gov to stay alive.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I can't see any alternatives. it would be great to keep the team in Billericay, but the team have ambition, so staying is out of the question.

Personally I'm tired and bored with all this Anti Basildon lark. Okay I will admit that I have posted a few in my time with my tounge very much in my cheek (lost on certain people who subscribe to this forum) but I had a conversation with someone on Saturday and one of their points was "and Basildon is full of thugs". Oh and Rod Moore has "ripped the heart out of the community".

Well, having heard the opinions of certain people over the past couple of weeks about things which do not concern themselves, the "heart of the community" can go and suck for all I care!!!

"And Basildon is full of thugs". Hmmmmm, I wonder what the supporters who travel from Basildon to New Lodge think of that one? Also, I have a couple of mates who live in Basildon and know a few people that live in Billericay that used to live in Basildon. Anyone would 've thought that the people of Basildon are diseased when the disease is really in the attitude of the small minded people who live in this town.

And should anyone suggest that we merge with Canvey Island, I for one will see this as a positive step forward regarding the future of local football in Essex (The humour of this will quite probably be lost on most of you so please send all abusive posts to.................).

As I am not one to hide (as some of the less couragous ones who post their barbed comments are) the above post was indeed from myself.

I forgot to log in. Many apologies for those of you who care.

Byeeeeeeee.....

Oh and I'm sure that I will be chatting to those who wish to have a frank and open discussion tomorrow night...

Enjoy.
