ARE WE ON THE SLIDE

I am starting to worry that our run is over and we are going to slide down the league.

I had high hopes we would make the top six but now maybe mid-table is our best bet.

Too early to say. Yesterday was a disappointing result, and if we're serious about promotion we need to win those sort of games. However if you look at the other games we've lost this year they are to the quality sides in the division(barnet, hereford and aldershot), who at this stage in our development,it isn't really a disgrace to lose to.Also it's not like we've been thrashed in these matches..

Most of the clubs start having problems as the season progress's. Ours appears to have manifested itself early. As injuries start taking their toll, clubs are bound to suffer. I feel sorry for the clubs in the LDV competition that could be involved in clogging matches where they could sustain injuries. The powers that be are already on the lookout for clubs fielding substandard teams by design in this competition.

Early days yet. Be positive!!!!

I only hope your hopes weren't too high, as a supporter of a club as relatively small in Conference terms as ours. As Richard C and Bernard have implied elsewhere, high expectations for the club to reach the League this year are foolhardy.

Those "high hopes" of finishing in the top six might just be the problem here. More realistic fans might note that there are better teams than us in this league: Barnet, Aldershot, Accrington, Hereford, Carlisle and probably the likes of Morecambe and Woking, who have admittedly under-achieved this season. It has clearly been an odd start to this Conference season. Few would have predicted York's low position or Halifax and Scarborough's rise to the top ten.

Hopefully, a good result next Saturday at home to Exeter, against whom we have an excellent record, will stabilise our position a little. We should get a good result away to Halifax the following week, and a good start in the FA Cup should bolster our form. There is no need to worry yet, a little faith in Ford and the players wouldn't go amiss here.

Think you are being harsh on yourselves.

Pains me to say it, but you have assembled a good side.

Your best run last year was after christmas.

You have in the main big, powerful players who will excel on 'winter piches'.Manny will fade, but the rest of your side will be good enough to overpower most opposition.

I said you would finish top 7 a start of season, and reckon you still will.

As already stated we have lost to teams who may well be contenders at the final run in plus Burton who (judging by our previous results against them are probably our "bogey " side.

When the heavier pitches start to be a factor then someone like Jamie Pinnock should come into contention,he must be champing at the bit by now, I feel confident we'll continue to give a good account of ourselves.

All fans start the season with high hopes of success.I think the playoffs were always going to be a bit too far for us.If we could end the season in about tenth place, and enjoy some decent cup runs, I will be more than happy, although I`m not very happy about the rumours of Lee Shearer going to Dover on loan!

Gents, I missed our (CIFC) home game at Barnet and we haven't played the shots or Hereford yet, but you are still one of the better teams I have seen.

Because our game was so early on in the season I'm sure you have improved a great deal.

I've seen a number of the mid and upper mid table clubs ( Scarborough, Morecambe, Halifax etc.)and have not been that impressed. One side that did impress me was Crawley.

It's going to be a long season (you guys keep telling us that) but from what I've seen I think your good for a top 7 spot. You also have a good manager who is doing a bloody fantastic job when all the other clubs around you are full time. Not sure how big your squad is but I suppose suspensions and injuries will start to take its toll a little.

Anyway I'd better stop writing this rubbish before I start to believe it myself

Best of luck.

Yeah, I was wondering if I'd been dropped into a parallel universe there, where Canvey and Gravesend loved each other, and Israelis thought Palestinians were, like, really cool.

Its already been said that there does not appear to be any one superior team in the league this season - potentially Barnet and Carlisle are looking good, but every other side has lost at least 3 games out of their 13.

The difference between finishing 5th and say 12th or 13th may well only be a couple of victories at the end of the day - its up to us to make sure we're the ones with that couple of extra victories rather than a couple of extra defeats.
