The World Cup

Recommended Posts

England will probably come second in their group and meet France in the last 16, and then probably Brazil and then who Knows?... After 86's hand of god 90 & 98's penalty shoot outs it's about time we had some luck on the pitch, Lord knows weve had enough bad luck off it this time round... Hand on heart.. I to also fancy Italy

Anyway, speaking of the World Cup, poor old Keano, eh? I sympathise. Apparently he had to spend 17 hours on an airplane. It's outrageous. I mean surely someone could have had the decency to move Japan for him...?

The team that wins it won't be European.

European countries have only won the tournament when it has been held in Europe.

So get ready to boycott the corned beef all over again...

Despite struggling during the qualifiers, Brazil have a superb chance, and you won't get a better price than they are at the moment to win a world cup.

France look the only ones capable of stopping them , but I agree with SuperDaz, European teams will struggle over there, and France's aging defenders might find it a championship too far.

So - get your money on Brazil, and then once England fall at the first/second round. Put your feet up, relax, dance the Samba, watch some decent footie and then head back to bookies <img border="0" title="" alt="[smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> to collect your winnings after the final.

P.S. I agree with those who say Italy are the favourites - not that I want them to win. Their game is based around a solid defence, which, although you have to admire Nesta, Cannavaro et al, isn't great when you're watching it on the box.

It's not so important in the 1st Round, you could win, lose and draw - get four points and still go through to the next round, and that's where the fun begins.

One reckless tackle just outside the box, or worse still, in the box. Possibly in the closing minutes and the shape of the whole contest has changed.

And don't get me started on the blind officals.

I make it, thats your last 3 footie tips on the message board coming in. You tipped during the last close season of the 'inevitable' Ryman championship going to the Fleet ( despite many doubters at the time ) , and the premiership heading to North London, and now the world cup..

Whats your predictions for next season ?

As you know, I hand over more than my fair share to the bookies on the horses / dogs. So maybe I should just stick to the footie.

Anyway next season -

I think that the Fleet travelling faithful, will be watching the future champions on the 17th August.Unfortunately it isn't going to be our boys. I will go with the Glovers to win the Conference, with Chester worth an each way nibble.

In regards to the premiership, I can't see any further than the boys from Highbury again. Despite their failure in recent years , to follow up on a successful season, I can see them still being too strong for the others.

Worst bet of the season :

Canvey at 6/4 for the Rymans, no value at all - my tip for the Rymans is an each way punt on both Kingstonian & Grays, I can see both of these putting in a big season at a fairly decent price.

But Mick, don't come crying to me when it all goes belly up.
