Today's match

Suspect prothers will be out for a week or so - looked a painful injury.

With Dukebox looking a bit out of sorts, and Manny has lost the scoring knack for the moment, why not try this line up:

Wilkerson

Gledhill Porter Shearer Skinner

Sidebe McKimm Saunders Surey

Pinnock Essandoh

Subs : Mitten Davis Drury Jackson Manny

Just to add my bit, a draw a fair result we never looked like scoring and we must learn to break down teams like these, we also need to stop these long punts upfield from Wilko, as for the so called mindless fans, will you please stop having a go at Drury, every season it's the same last year Abbey before that Lee Spiller used to get stick, why do you do it, it is a total disgrace and for one i am sick and tired of it, at least today it finally made my mind up.

I agree - there is a big difference between criticising a player's performance after the game (which I am guilty of) & barracking him during the match (which I have not done.)

I still think Drury needs to improve - there were times yesterday when his ball control was awful. Not even a second touch, let alone one touch. The annoying thing is that he is capable of playing at this level, winning games for us - he just too inconsistent right now.

Personally, I would put out on loan for a month & then bring him straight back into the team. He looks to be lacking confidence & barracking him won't improve the situation.

Nice to see some of you took the time out to read my report!

Naturally, we all see things differently when it comes down to the crucial elements of the game. With Devine's yellow, I saw it as being a challenge where he got the ball, and his follow-through took the player out afterwards. I did feel guilty about our barracking of the injured player, as we thought he made a meal of it at the time - cry wolf often enough etc....When he hobbled off and didn't return, naturally I changed my view of him!

For the penalty, I was very well-placed, directly in line with the incident, so was able to make a judgement call. I guess if the boot was on the other foot my inclination would be to say "We were denied a clear penalty..." but that's because I'm partisan!

Re: the Essandoh goal, yes I did point out that play should not have restarted (and therefore should have been stopped) because of 2 balls on the pitch, but I also complemented Essandoh on what was a "fabulous" strike.

All in all I felt it was a fair result, as I said in my report - we had the best of the first half and didn't get a kick in the second. That lino was appalling, though!!!

All the best for the rest of the season, who knows - maybe, just maybe we can beat our "jinx" next time!

As for Drury, people who call him 'useless' and other such descriptions on the terraces, they are clearly lying. But it cannot be denied that he has looked out of sorts lately, mainly owing to poor decision-making when on the ball (e.g. going on runs when he should pass, having shots from over-ambitious positions). To his credit, though, he did make a few reasonable cross-field passes in the first half.

Players suffer from lack of confidence when continually barracked and tend to make mistakes when trying to extricate themselves from this type of harassment. They are only human and have human frailties, like some of the prats on the terraces.

Good to see Jason from Exeter come on here and talk about their report. Of course it was biased. Every club makes a biased report. We do. So does whitebucket.

Thought he was wrong about the ref though. Didn't even notice him. A sure sign he had a good game.

The usual guff from Perryman though.

Every former big -time "charlie" spouts off the same rubbish. Do they read a script?

Our record for 2004 (including our Xmas double over the'Git is

P 33 W17 D10 L6 F71 A44 pts 64.

Please let us lay off Dukebox now. He probably knows he is out of form. He doesn't need us to tell him.

Why cannot any manager EVER come out and say we are not doing badly for a lowly part-time pub side?

Quote of the day from some senile old goat in front of me -

"What a waste of space that Lovell is - they shouldn't have got rid of Rouse - he was far better"!! Doh!

Yes there were two balls on the pitch because some idiot threw it back onto the field after play had restarted. See no reason for the ref to stop play.

Manny stopped and a player run into him from behind and bundled him over. I too was inline with the incident and a pen would have been given 9 times out of 10.

The lino in the first half took so much abuse from the Exeter fans when, apart from a couple 50/50 decisions, he was spot on imo.

Agree a draw was a fair result.

Proths wasn't too happy with Moussa's lay off's and made it clear to him. A couple of minutes later Moussa again laid off a poor pass to Proths which ended up with him going off. Sort it out lads.

As has been said, a fair result on the day, I think out best spell was when we had the width on both sides when Moussa came on and Drury switched to left, then when Lovell took over. Nearly everything first half was coming from the right - which made it a bit predictable to defend against.

That said, to play with two wide men would leave two from McKimm, Saunders & Surey in the middle - tough choice as I thought all three did well....

Also thought Shearer and Porter both did well today, we all know Moore is class, but I don't think he's quite come alive this season...yet! Perhaps a quick rest will re-charge him.

Finally, everyone's got the right to moan about players amongst themselves, and everyone will have their own opinions - but lay off them during the game, it does nobody any good.

Totally agree that we should be restricting criticism of players to this forum and the only words we should be expressing from the terraces are words of encouragement.

Andy Drury is definitely looking like someone lacking in confidence and maybe trying to do too much to try to impress Andy Ford. Actually thought part of his problem was that he started on the right which I don't think is the side of the pitch he feels most comfortable - looked much better when he switched to the left and was starting to create a few things before his substitution.

So let's keep supporting the players on the pitch and have our moans on the forum.

I didn't think any of the players were 'with it' lets say. none of them need barracking by people who are supposed to be supporters of the club that they play for.

Agree that Drury needs to be played somewhere other than out on the right, he just doesn't seem comfortable there. why doesn't Fordy try what he did saturday when he took surey off, from the start of the game. Play Jay and Macca in the middle of the park, with Moussa and Jukebox on the wings. Jukebox definitely looks more content on the left wing than the right.

Fordy could even do a 'Sven' so to speak. he could play a diamond, with Jay pushing out left, and Jukebox sitting behind the front 2, in a Paul Scholes kind of role. (he's better looking than Paul Scholes though, Obviously!!)

I really don't understand why people feel the need to hurl abuse at the players when they have an off day, i thought that we were there to SUPPORT them. It was clear that there were a few tempers fraying on the pitch without fan's input. Matt Lovell just didn't want to shut up!. he needs to learn to control his temper, and his mouth.

Ben Surey should start ahead of Jukebox every time. Why should one player, arguably one of the best performers this season miss out to accomodate someone who doesn't appear to know where he plays best?

Fordy could play Roy up top on his own with Manny and Jukebox floating off him, sort of linking the play with the three "defensive" midfielders making a narrow three. This would however leave us vulnerable wide if the two "floaters" don't tuck back in when we haven't got the ball.

I don't know what else to suggest with regard to Drury, but dropping Ben Surey isn't an option.

There's always the option of dropping another player, it just depends on who fordy wants in the side. Dropping Ben Surey is an option, it may not be the most obvious one at the moment, but it could work.

Playing a diamond, with Macca acting as the extra defender, and Moussa and Jay or Ben Surey out on the wing would work better than playing both Manny and jukebox floating off, as we would have more backup for the defence.
