Change is all very well and improvement is always welcome, but lets not forgot the 2 who had the job thrust upon them last season were already very busy within the club as well as having lives to run outside. Perhaps a few direct suggestions would help, maybe aided by a bit of research on the part of the donor. And Roy, I'm not having a go at you personally, others have been quick to knock things in our best season for years, I also said things were lacking in our publications, I'd imagine that one of the 1st steps would be to check out what this seasons competition is producing and then redevelop along those lines.

Personally, I thought your programme was slightly improved from the previous seasons, although not significantly. As for one to look towards - it may not be the best looking programme, but Northwood's is a great one.

Things that I think could be improved for your programme next season:

1) a consistant layout. A green page, followed by a yellow, then red, then blue doesn't impress.

2) Try and keep adverts to completely seperate pages from club info - makes it easier to read

3) Try and get slightly more "reading" material. Even just increasing all those half pages of news and bits to a full page would make a huge difference.

Just my two pence worth. Well.... £3 actually

Most of these already exist anyway but in my view the programme should have...:

1.) Managers/chairmans notes

2.) Supporters Association/general fans section

3.) Information on opposing team - history, ground, players/staff etc

4.) General news from around the league(s)

5.) Some kind of historical "on this day" type section

6.) Player profiles - good idea but could possibly run out of people to profile.

7.) Quiz - good idea. Crossword - not so good. Who ever honestly does the crossword?

8.) Stats - attendances/goal scorers/results from around the league and from us inc. an up to date table.

9.) General news from around the club

Obviously for the programme to make money the adverts are neccesary but if yes on seperate pages to the actual information so they're more discreet.

I thought that Sutton United's programme was one of the best that we encountered on our travels last season. It had depth and was very informative. Andy's Corner is an essential feature, but I wish that he would stop the habit of using the word 'of' instead of 'have' as in for example '...must of hurt.' A regularly updated table, plus appearances and goal scorers is also a must. Personally I enjoy the regular quiz, but doubt if many attempt the crossword, although this is a feature which does add a touch of originality, as I have seldom seen one in other non-league programmes. Paul Harrison's Past Memories column is sheer class and must remain. It is authoritative and well researched. I also feel that some thought should be given to the distribution of the adverts. Seven or eight pages of these in a row is too many before encountering another news item. We also need to reinstate the club's honours and achievements which failed to feature for much of last season. A way should also be found to present the opposing side's history and pen portraits in a more eye catching way. The content is OK, it's just the layout that is so boring! A different font (or more than just one) might help. Finally, try and put an end to out of context spelling errors. Some are really obvious and probably a result of an over reliance on 'Spellcheck'. With a little thought our programme could become one of the best.

Unfortunately last season our programme suffered from mistakes and lack of adverts/sponsors which the untrained eye wouldn't notice but the content and layout were both excellent, even though I find lots of different coloured backgrounds and fonts difficult to read. Hopefully it will be even better next season.
