Kent Online

Recommended Posts

If I am correct Kent online has much to do with the re-vamped and regionalised Kent Today. My local edition is Medway Today.

I'm not surprised at all that their sister web site remains out of date. After all they gave Lordswood FC more coverage in the M.T. than any of the Fleet games, with the exeption of the Canvey home game.

Now before anyone says that Gravesend is not in Medway. I would say that I'm in Gillingham and only twenty minutes drive from the ground. I think that they are denying a good team right and proper coverage and exposure to a wider possible supporter catchment area.

The time has never been better to widen the exposure of the Fleet but I think we can not count on the assistance of the KM group.

Have to agree with you anyway, Dave M.

It was a source of constant frustration for me to see the coverage ( or lack of it to be more specific) that they gave us.

Match previews were even worse than their match reports - sometimes our games got barely 1 or 2 short paragraphs, when Lordswood and Chatham got virtually half a page each.

I too think they should realise that there are many Fleet fans resident in the Medway area.

There is a Gravesend edition of Kent Today, it gave decent coverage after the Bedford match, but I can't say I buy it usually.

Anyway the whole of the KM Group will have a problem next season, all those pictures of players with "Gravesend Reporter" across their chests!

They were after all banned from Gillinghams ground after a pique from Lord Scally of Preistfield.

Aparently their photographs are taken from an aquantancies brothers attic sky light ...! All very proffesional....??? Probably their ban had as much do with Medway News / Standard taking up sponsership as to what they printed but it does demonstrate a crass attitude to sports coverage.
