Hi I used to support Enfield before I moved away nearly three years ago. I followed their results on teletext and have been alarmed at their league slump and now I am coming back to live in Enfield I find they're playing in Boredom Wood! Is this permanent or a temporary arrangement? And what's the best way to get to Boreham Wood if you don't drive? I can't wait to get back into supporting them again! [color:"blue"] And what is this about there being 2 teams??? HELP I'm confused! [/color]

Dont be confused, The Enfield you watched in the past is still going and playing in the Rymans Premier Division, games are played at Boreham Wood. A 307 Bus to Barnet and then a 107 to Boreham Wood

As for 2 teams you will find another side called Enfield Town also on this forum they are in the Essex Senior League and have no connection to Enfield FC

Thanks for replying. Why was another team formed and who was it formed by?
Are we at Boreham Wood permanently now or just until another ground can be built?

Enfield Town FC was formed by disgruntled Enfield FC supporters. You can read more about why the club was formed on the Enfield Town FC web site.

As for whether Boreham Wood is a permanent home, it is as permanent as needs be for membership of the Isthmian League. Tony Lazarou claims that he will move the club back into the Borough of Enfield. The fact that he moved it out is part of the reason that ETFC was formed.

Thanks Cyclops. Where do Enfield Town play their matches and what league do they play in?

Enfield Town play at Brimsdown Rovers' ground - somewhere north of Southbury Road, and play in the Essex Senior League (they finished 2nd in it in their debut season)

No connection apart from the fact that ETFC was formed by Enfield fans fed up with Lazarou's prevarications, the ETFC board of directors being ex-EFC and moving for the same reasons, the ETFC manager being Jim Chandler who was sacked to make way for Loizou, most of the ETFC players being ex-EFC.
ETFC is fun which has no connection with the drivel I was forced to watch in my last season as an EFC fan.

What I think freebird is trying to say is that etfc is its own club with no efc connections to the history of efc apart from the fan base just coz a player has played for efc and now playes for etfc dont mean anything, same as Jim EX-efc manager!! players come and go so do managers just coz thay are at etfc dont mean theres a connection! it's like Terry Vennables(think thats how u spell it!!) he's at leeds now is there a connection between leeds and spurs now??? I think not just coz he was the manager of spurs! Also say...... Super Rio he WAS a west ham player, he's at leeds so is there a connection between leeds and west ham?? again I think not!

Wow! I seem to have stirred up a lot of feelings here. As I said in my initial posting, I have been away from Enfield for almost 3 years and when you're living in darkest Hampshire your opportunities to keep up with a non-league football side are limited. So I have been following Enfield for the most part through BBCs Ceefax. And watching Enfields slide with a growing alarm. I only started following Enfield the season after we were relegated from the Conference and was used to seeing the team up there challenging for the title. Now we seem to be fighting to survive. What the hell went wrong?
As for the Enfield Town team..I have read the previous comments with interest, and while I can understand there must have been a lot of frustration and anger at what has been unfolding, I will still follow Enfield - even with the slog to Boreham Wood every home game - because that is my team. It is the team I followed when I lived in the area and it is the team I want to follow now, whatever happens. I just hope that this season we can turn things round because to me Enfield has been a great team to watch and I can't wait to see them again.

I have just checked through my copy of the A to Z of Enfield Pub's and there does not appear to have been a Pub called the Riverside in Turkey Street.
