According to the DTI, the rules for the curfew are (Effective from last August):

The creation of a curfew on firework use – between 11 pm and 7 am (in line with the Noise Act 1996), with the exception of the following nights where the curfew will begin at different times:

- November 5th – 12 midnight;

- New Years Eve – 1 am;

- Chinese New Year – 1 am;

- Diwali night – 1 am.

Didn't make any difference where I was, as I said! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />

Made no difference to me and 'Er Indoors, as we were at the News Years disco in the local watering hole.

We didn't leave until 4:00 am, whilst feeling no pain.

As an animal lover, (metaphorically speaking), it annoys me around November 5th. when fireworks seem to be the order of the day for about three wekks before and after the event. Should be restricted to the week-end nearest to the 5Th only !

I have never seen why they are sold to the public anyway, organised displays only would be a far better idea.

All I've got to say on the subject is "Thanks a bunch, all you morons... who have been waking &/or keeping awake my three under five kids since the last week of October and only just (hopefully) ending in the last couple of days ! (Uh-oh ! When's Chinese New Year ???) <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Absolutely agreed, it went on sproradically till about 2 here as well. Quite honestly I don't see why it has to go on for more than 10 minutes on New Year's Eve! As for Nov 5th, why not only allow them on the 5th? Bah, humbug.....

More controversially perhaps, I also fail to see why they are allowed on Diwali or Chinese new year.
