Where did it all go wrong

I realise you Urchins must be sick of hearing people say I told you so, but nevertheless many with previous bad experiences at their clubs of similar things did offer words of warnings.

Ok some of them words of warning were covering jealously but many of us were genuine, but I think you assumed it was the former and ignored us.

These takeovers that include going from a little club nobody knows about to a mighty force overnight with maxiumum bankrolling nearly always end in tears. It's a bit like the Grolsch ads... "don't rush these things, they take time".

I didn't realise untill I read the Recorder that the double glazing man also owned your club, I assumed wrongly that the club had remained independant. It turns out that the same person is pulling all the strings. Can't say how dedicate the bloke is to Hornchurch cause I have never met him. However the protection you claimed to have when all this started that would cover you if the bankrollers went bad doen't seem to exist. Therefore it doesn't appear any of the warning notices were ever heeded.

Good men have been sacrificed along the way from the old boys who were stopped from using the club coaches to away games, to the likes of Mick Marsden, and Mick Ewen. Stalwarts of local football, not glory hunters coming along for the ride cause the Urchins were winning more than the Hammers.

The fact that if you did go to the wall (and I sincerley hope you don't), it would mean that the little Ryman Div 3 club that kept itself to itself, and upset no one would be the real victim in all this!

well here's to you , robin's son.

i believe that when the 'bankrollers' arrived, the club was about to go to the wall anyway.

differences aside, the survival of hornchurch football club is and should be everybody's priority.

but cheers for your concern - god bless you please, robins son.

I take it you were one of these old boys then? Bitter? However, I don't recall anyone being "stopped" from using the coachs...other than Ginger Dave and Gnome Paul cos they stunk....or maybe you are either of them two?? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />

lets have it,any of you boys thinking you can come down on our forum and give it the large, think again,we know things about your club, basically that you are crap if you don't support the urchins, now bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Pal, now is not the time to be putting up barricades and pissing off the rest of the Essex non-league community.

When a club faces financial problems to the point of collapse (Not saying the Urchins are in that boat, yet), they need all the friends and sympathy they can get. I didn't read anything anti-Urchin in Son of Robin's post. Just advice for clubs in a similar situation.

We need a strong non-league scene in Essex and long may Hornchurch be a part of that.

I would agree Hookey. None of what was in Son of Robin's post was anti Urchin but if the relativly "fresh" supporters of Hornchurch wish to turn their backs on sympathy and support from others in Essex, then so be it.

I have had first hand experience of Gary Calder and have spoken to UU. Both have had a hand in helping BTFC in the past and both have (had) a (different) vision for Hornchurch. Both have my respect as "football" men and whatever the situation is at Hornchurch, I sincerely want the club to survive and be strong.

It isn't for me to comment as to what my view of the situation is as I don't know the story is on the "inside" track but for the comment from some Urchin supporter of "bring it on" is just plain stupid and childish. Grow up and join the rest of the Non League world.

As I said before, getcher head down, get behind the club and best wishes for the future.

we should take some comfort in the support other non league fans are giving rather than blasting there comments after, all i have not yet read any abusive remarks towards our beloved club, so wake up urchin supporters to the fact all true non leauge fans only have our survival at heart perhaps they really care for the game rather than just the money...............
