Who wants the Olympics then? I want London to win more so because we'll beat the French rather than because it would benifit Britain.

yeah but what is the point in a third rate venue and town when it will end up a complete disater like the new wembley stadium the current london dome and the infrastructure ie trains buses and tube cannot cope with what is there without failing plus it costs twice a smuch to go to london as its does if it were held in paris which has already proved its worth with the world champs
Not only that uk does not deserve anything until it sorts out whether you are part of europe or usa
you cannot have it both ways and continue to moan
not unless the govt changes that is and let the tories back to run the country how it should be
also will showjumping be excluded coz the countryside alliance cant field a team
answers on a forum postcard

Not being funny mate, but what the hell as that got to do with sport? Being part of Europe or the USA - didn't effect Beijing or Sydney holding the games.

I can't believe so many people are supporting this ridiculous bid.

We need to sort our country out before we start wasting money on what essentially is a luxury.

If my house had no windows, I wouldn't ignore it and buy myself a ferrari would I! I would get the windows fixed first!!

How many schools could the government fund with the riduculous sums of money the olympics would cost? How many doctors wages could you pay?

They say there is advantages of kids having better sports facilities and thus creating future stars. But these facilities will only be used by a select few.

Why not use the money to fund schools so they can have better sports facilities and every child in the country can get to use them. Then you will develop your stars!!!!

The idea is the Olympics inspire the children and encourage them to play sport.

What a load of b******s. Why does the olympics need to be in this country to inspire them? Lets face it the closet most of the kids in the country will get to seeing it will be on their TV's. So what difference would it make where it would be held.

Where are they going to play these sports? Their schools wont have the facilities.

I do think it would be nice to have the olympics, but it is a luxury, a luxury which we don't need. There are a million things that we need that the money could be spent on to better effect.

Looks like it's all going 'Pear-Shaped'.

Seb Coe, (Lord), starting to back-peddle. Might save the humble tax-payers a few bob !
