London 2012

Recommended Posts

It's important to plan ahead and think about what to do with all the stadia, running tracks, velodromes and the rest of it after the games. I was listening to a prog on the radio yesterday saying that the Greeks and the Aussies had got it a bit wrong, and there are now loads of disused stadia and things with people walking their dogs round them, tumbleweed blowing around and that sort of thing.

Presumably Olympic villages will become housing or hotels - but don't forget the infrastructure, like they did/are doing in Docklands.

For the actual sporting facilities, there will need to be governing bodies and things in place to see that they are properly used. As we all know I think, most sports governing bodies couldn't govern a Subbutteo team.

I would like to see it, as long as it does not become another major farce, such as the dome. I hear the village will be turned into affordable housing. Which is much needed. I am sure if we do not get it, the developments will be carried out anyway, so we can go for the 2016 if 2012 is rejected

And we'll be in the frontline, Woody, as they are planning to use the Eton Rowing Trench at Dorney. It'll wreck a nice country area and we don't need the expense and the congestion as well.

if i'm being 100% honest i just don't care about who wins.

I don't watch alot of the stuff on the telly although if we were allowed to enter a GB footie team that would gain my interest for a second or two

never going to happen. In fact we are allowed to enter a British team but the FAs never release players and continually squabble over who gets in. And anyways it'd be the current England squad and Ryan Giggs, hardly British now is it?

and that's the point! Do you not understand this? The English FA has more power than the other three combined and would insist on more English players which would no doubt p*ss them off. Making the squad a combination would essentially be doomed as the team would most probably be absolute pony PLUS the English FA is constantly bitching about how many games are being played and do you really think they'd let their best young players play an extra tournament? Do you even think their clubs would allow it?
