Best:

1. FA Trophy final v Forest Green - could hardly believe we were there, never mind won it !

2. v Port Vale 4-4 - amazing comeback and we won the replay (and they made a video of the replay !)

3. v Northampton 1-0 - Canvey on MOTD !!!

4. v Brighton 2-2 - first time in the FA Cup 1st round

Worst:

1. v Hednesford - the worst by a long way

2. v Southend - why oh why did they have to sack their manager before playing us ?!

3. v Crawley recently - just felt awful after leading for so long

Bloody hours on the coach and we got mullered

Very difficult picking out the best moments, there has been so many but here goes:

1 Port Vale (home) An amazing comeback, constant singing throughout the second half and people going barmy under the bike sheds at our equaliser, amazing!

2. Thurrock. After years of trying we had finally done it although in fairness we had all but won the title weeks before so was a bit of an anti climax.

3. Wigan. Spent hours getting pissed in a pub. With key players missing we thought we had no chance but Greggors scored a great goal. 400 Yellow Army going mental.

4. Trophy final 2001. Chenners header on a great day. great occasion.

5. Telford (Trophy semi final home) An emotional roller coaster of a match. Lee Boylan's superb second looked like it had won the game but we then had the agony of penalties. Danny Potter saving the first one and then the Telford guy smashing one against the bar. Going ballistic as sooon as the guy missed frightening the life out of the female friend who was standing next to me at the time. just brilliant!!!

Other moments:

That game against Gravesend

Northampton MOTD

Burnley FA Cup: what a great day out!!

Mints putting us 2-1 up against Southend in the cup

Our amazing comeback against Dover in the cup

Lee Boylan's hattrick against Hornchurch last day of last season and seriously pissing off my Hornchurch mates celebrating the goals!!

Getting one over Stimmo in all three games we played against Grays in 2002/03 especially the one at home.

Telford 2001 trophy in monsoon conditions.

Chester 2001 away trophy.

Here's the worst moments, slightly easier!!

1. 2004 Trophy Final: Gutted. Close to tears at the final whistle. Their winning goal was like a stake through the heart.

2. Southend home: Same as the above. A cruel end to a gutsy performance.

3. Last day 2001/02 at Braintree: We blew it that season and Braintree was the final death knell. A horrible day.

4. Slough Town away FA Cup 2002/03: A disgraceful performance against lower league opposition. Never felt so angry after a game.

5. Bishop's Stortford home 2002/03: A 4-0 defeat in our first home game of the season. Watched by Neil Ruddock, Adam Miller played his last game for the club. We all thought the bubble had burst. Luckily we came good later that season.

Other moments:

Halifax away: poor performance, racist abuse, long coach journey home.

Bishop's Stortford away last year: poor performance, terrible atmosphere.

Aldershot home 2002/03: our title hopes dissapearing for that season. Watching 2,000 shots fans singing and celebrating.

Bryco cup final at Hornchurch

Crawley away this season.

My best memories are:

1- Against Brighton (2-2) at home. I was too small to see all the game (even at 14) but i remember the atmosphere and i got to see the goals, so that was alright. Nearly got one at the end as well. My heart was in my mouth!

2- Against Port Vale (4-4) at home. Just brilliant entertainment.

3- Against Stevenage in FA trophy. (0-0, 4-2 on pens). Just a great game. End to end stuff.

4- The final against Forest Green (1-0). Just a great day out and i passed out in the toilet on the way home because i had too much Vodka!

5- Away to Wigan (1-0). Just a great day out.

6- Against Northampton (1-0). Another brilliant day and great to boo Lawro and Hansen out of the ground. And i got arrested that day by Transport police!

7- Against Gravesend (1-0). Fantastic atmosphere and massive crowd. Plus after that result, i had a great night of celeboratory shagging!

8- Semi final last year against Telford. (2-2, 4-2 on pens). Fantastic game and thunderbolt free kick from Boylan!

9- New Years Day this year against Dagenham (4-2) coz i fuc*ing hate them!

Briefly, worst times are at Braintree where i accidently got drink spilt on me, resulting in me falling backwards and elbowing a old geezer in the mouth!

Hednesford, Aldershot when we lost title race, Southend both times in FA Cup, especially last time.

I remember that. I think some of the beer got spilt on me, celebrating Lee Boylan's equalising goal.

That was in the FA Cup. Pretty amazing comeback even by our standards.

Best moments -

Home to Brighton. My first Canvey game and I still remember all the fans watching from the rooftops of houses around Park Lane.

The away game at Port Vale. Good drink beforehand with some new mates and then the game itself - 'nuff said.

FA Trophy win against FGR was a great day out. Went to Villa Park in a stretch limo, don't know how I got home, I was that pi$$ed.

Being on MOTD and Hansen having to eat his words as we stuffed Northampton 1 - 0.

Winning the league at Tilbury when everyone expected the honours to go to Braintree. The league trophy had to be bungled into a taxi and brought from one end of Essex to the other, the ribbons being re-tied en route and all in time to scupper Tilbury's presentation evening as they couldn't get into their own bar.

Worst moments -

Cup games away to Lowestoft, Burgess Hill and Slough (in that order).

The home defeat against Gravesend when (allegedly) somebody from the Canvey management team turned the floodlights off and buggered off with the key to the control box. Great embarrassment all round as G&N continued to play better football than us, even in the dark.

Being defeated at the Lane by Aldershot, giving them promotion to the Conference. Watching all their fans giving it large on our terrace.

And finally, being banned by the club for things I was supposed to have said in a match report when, actually, I was 600 miles away in France. The ban was later rescinded, but the website I had given so much time and energy to never recovered and was never replaced.

Certainly not one of our finest moments. I remember us coming back on the field and trying to kick lumps out of the Gravesend players especially Stimmo. It seemed like we didn't want to play that last 15 minutes and had a massive strop about it.

Certainly didn't endear us to other clubs and that whole night hardly improved our reputation. I think there was alot of clubs that season who were glad to see us fail!!

1st Thurrock away

It was just a relief to know we had finally won the Ryman

2nd Northampton FA Cup

Knocking ou a Football League club On National TV, it didnt get much better than that

3rd Gravesend Away

huge crowd and a great performance in the title decider(or so we thought)

4th Forest Green FA Trophy Final

Wonderful feeling winning the top Non League cup

5th Dover FA Cup

3-0 down and listening to their fans taunt us. How sweet was that comeback!

6th Southend away 1-1

More than matched our neighbours and fully deserved the draw

Also Farnbrough 6-0 game, Sutton 4-1 2001(we were 1-0 with 20 minutes to go), Hullbridge 7-0 away win would have been in the top 6 by was played on September 11th 2001 watched the game feeling numb knowing what had happened across the Atlantic. Telford on penalties last season was very special.

Worst moments

1st Hendesford FA Trophy

We deserved to lose but lost to a team far poorer than us

2nd Southend FA Cup 2003

I cried at the end of the game it was so cruel we were the better team

3rd Sutton 1-1 2002

Last home game and the title was tossed away, Gravesend lost to Boreham Wood at home all we had to do was win but we blew it Tilson even missed a penalty

4th Hitchin away 2002

We had done the hard work 4 days earlier by beating gravesend all we had to do was beat a poor hitchin team but we lost an threw the title wide open again

5th Slough FA Cup 3-2 defeat

A disgraceful defeat which led to a major shake up in the team

6th Grays home lost 2-1 in 2002

In the title run in grays were a poor team we went 1-0 up but then Grays scored a freak goal thanks to the wind and we somehow lost.

On a personal level Hayes away last season was very good for me ok we lost the game but I did very well out of the day. Gave the Turnstille operator 10 pounds he gave me 12 pounds back in change! Went to their club shop bought some programmes and videos with the money. Put them on E-bay and sold them for about 60 pounds!! A very good day apart form the result.

Remember that game well. Craig Edwards in the press came out and said "he would love it if Grays defeated Canvey". Remember Edwards going barmy at the Grays' goals and their players and fans celebrating as if they had won the title at the end of the game even though it was meaningless in terms of Grays' league position.

That along with Stimmos' defection started my hatred for all things Grays!!

We threw it away that day. We were leading quite comfortably and then conceded a sloppy goal. Tilly missed a penalty and then Gravesend went a goal down. If we had won that day I'm sure we would have gone on and won the title but instead went into the final game knowing that even a win wasn't good enough.

a few years ago a home game against Ricky. little thommo scored a winning goal right near the end. lovely turn and volley. I had just got back from holiday and come straight to the ground (suitcase and all) and he scored it just as I was walking behind the goal.
