Can You Believe it?

Recommended Posts

Canvey Island just got a mention on Coronation Street. Waiting for my other half to get ready for a night on the tiles, I started paying attention when "Warren" (who he?) who plays for "County" was talking to a fan. they mentioned a game against Tamworth and concluded with "away to Canvey Island tomorrow". This begs two questions:

Don't the scriptwriters know that you are playing in the Trophy tomorrow?

Haven't they looked out the window and seen he snow? Can't see you playing Stortford or County at this rate.

You beat me to it Johnny. I was going to post about that comment.

Ironically the fictional Weatherfield County in Corrie play their games at Stalybridge Celtic's Bower Fold Ground. It's the fifth round of the Trophy tomorrow and in last year's fifth round we played none other than Stalybridge!!

Spooky. Maybe the script writers have tired of trying to hide song titles in the stage conversations like England footballers. So 12 months ago they hatched a cunning plot, supported by a 50p bet, to see who could slip Canvey into the script first in the correct context without being spotted. I bet the luvvies are whooping with delight in the wine bars of Salford Quays thinking they have pulled it off. But we have tumbled them. Time to call ITV and claim my prize.

Do you reckon it may be bet of Jeffs marketing campaign to raise our profile?

Any way I have heard a rumour that we are going to sign Warren Baldwin on loan for a month, apparently he is being lined up to replace Lee Boylan who is going to play for City, while Jeff goes off to manag Sarfend Celtic.

Signed

I'd like to say I saw it too, but I wouldn't really be too interested wasting valuable drinking time to watch that crap. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

What's funny though, is that this shows that everyone who knows actually spent a friday night, (Well, half an hour to an hour of it) watching Corination Street, im now going to add them to a "secret" list. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I spent 75 minutes waiting for other half to be ready to go out at 7 o'clock. Hence catching Canvey on Corrie.

Long story short, had words in back of cab, we missed our table booked in Bilericay for 8, changed restaurants, the 2 ladies of our lives had words over starters before progressing to not talking mode. Neither wanted to go on after meal, so returned home where me and mate continued to drink beer, whilst ladies returned to slanging match.

End result was I have a sore head this morning, lady of life went off to work this morning as though last night never happened, even brought me tea and toast in bed. But to cap it all, I missed out on my horizontal athletics last night !!!

Then someone comes along and suggests that I am sad for watching Corrie. SAD!! SAD!! I'm flaming distraught!!

If you think everyone in this country watches Corination Street 2/3 times a week I dread to think what life's like.

I can honeslty say I've seen it maybe 2/3 times in the past year, not that I am proud of that.

As for Johnny The Horse... Bad luck mate, doesn't sound like too much fun... Still, not a good enough excuse to watch that crap though <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
