Hello Canvey Supporters,

This Friday my son and I will be visting Canvey Island for the first time; to hopefully see a good game of football between Canvey and Aldershot.

As first time visitors is there any advice on how to get to the ground, where best to park, and who are the stars in the Canvey team and worth keeping an eye on ?

Many thanks

JPS

hopefully we will play better than the last few times we have played you so it is a better game.

here is a link for on how to get to the club click here

there is a car park at the ground, it is quite small and we charge £1.50 if not there is on street parking all around the ground but you may have to walk a bit.

Should be better than the games at the Rec recently. Both teams seemed to have massed a lot of injuries and skill and ability seemed to go out the window.

We have a few new faces at the Lane - just depends on who's picked (bit of an "in" joke there at the moment )

Players to look out for - Lee Boylan, Mario Notto (if picked), Jeff Minton and John Keeling (can turn a game if given the space)Hopefully, the one player who can also have a blinding game and we may need this Friday night is our keeper Danny Potter - good alround entertainer apparently.

Many thanks for the directions, it sounds as if parking is not a problem. I'm grateful for the feedback on players to watch. It does make it more interesting to have a few names of the opposition to contend with.

I've looked at some of the pictures of the ground on the web-site. There seems to be no cover at the away end, and the ground looks fairly open. Would I be correct in assuming it's sensible to be prepared for the worse of the weather ?

The away end is not covered - in fact most of the ground ain't covered.

Don't bother with going into the seats - its covered but you'll spend all night looking at a scaffold pole.

As Ian says some of the information on the website is dated and I think the photos don't show the new terrace etc.

The ground is extremely exposed to the elements and is a stones throw away from the Thames Estuary - even Geordies would wear a vest. Wrap your kid up warm otherwise all you'll hear throughout the game is "I'm cold" - I know from experience.
