GOOD NEWS! Carlisle (home)

Recommended Posts

On Good Friday march 25th we are at home to Carlisle united. For this, the club have come up with some special treats for us supporters.

The club have officially announced that there will be a coach being run around the whole of the island and Ben fleet station picking up supporters from the pick up points allocated before the one o'clock kick off.

This also will be running after the game to drop people back off. Not only will you be dropped to and from the game but also it is being run FREE OF CHARGE. The coach is being booked tomorrow.

All kids will be allowed into the game for just £1 when accompanied by an adult.

This has all been agreed by Jeff and the board and if it is a success it will be reviewed as a permanent thing

This is a very positive move by the club so lets all take advantage of it. It will be a good day out for all the family and friends but at the same time at a very low cost.

REMEMBER the coach will be free of charge so bring as many people as you can.

Great that the club may be reviewing the kids for a quid admission going forward.

All it needs now is some good advertising to spread the word about these initiatvies. Those with children, sure quite a few have been put off by the increase in child prices from last season. Let’s get them back in!!

well there is going to be more infomation about it on the website and the echo are also going to advertise it in there paper. Also there are going to be posters made and put around the schools so hopefully this will do the trick and get some new supporters through the gates and if they enjoy it im sure they'll come back, hopefully with mates that they have told at school.

As you say, lets get them back in

The more we spread the word the better as if its a success it may well become a regular thing

I doubt it!! Our record attendance was 3,500 odd against Aldershot two years' ago.

Just over 800. I reckon about 1,800 for Good Friday.

At last the club has finally realised that it has outpriced its fan base this year. I have two young boys and the cost of taking them to matches this year increased from £1 to £8 each - just rediculous. Little wonder that the average gate has actually dropped this year. Don't know where you get an average gate of 800 from, I think you will find its nearer 650 with a core home support of around 400.

Kids are the future season ticket holders. I am actually amazed at the lack of commercial acumen at Canvey - they have no idea how to manage sponsorship, entertainemnt, or ground facilities ( 1 disgusting burger bar).

Football competes with a whole range of leisure activities - you have to provide a quality product or people vote with their feet.

If Carlisle are near to the play-off positions come Easter they will bring loads.Good to see we are having a go at boosting our own support with the Shuttle-bus and 'kids for a quid'. Be nice to see a big bank holiday crowd at Park Lane again.

Carlisle have a lot of London supporters who probably come by train.

I can see half a dozen coaches ferrying Carlisle fans to the ground from Benfleet station

Being to lazy to look - are Southend at home on the same day? - presume not as we won't be able to split the police.

Seriously - an excellent idea which I hope pays off. Do agree with some of the Left Posts comments - but not about the burger bar.

The provision of a free bus service to this game is purely for the Canvey residents on this occasion and will be targetted mainly to local kids and their parents (hence the £1 addmision)in a joint Supporters club/Club innitiative to try and expand our support on the Island. Hopefully if succesful we can increase our target area to the surrounding mainland with additional coaches running a shuttle service if practicle.

More details regarding the route and pick up times will follow soon and posters will be on display in various locations around the island.

This idea instigated by the supporters and backed by Jeff & Co. will hopefully be well received by all our existing and any new fans we might attract.

It would be nice to largely outnumber what could be the biggest away following this season.

We need the best possible vocal support to sing our boys to that safe points total (maybe 40) starting Friday against 'The Shots'.
