...got the new msn virus going around? If so, how the feck are you ment to delete it? I tried to delete, but it says its still in use. I then tried Ctrl + Alt + Del as that the thing where you get the list of programs currently in use, but for some reason it wont come up!! Any ideas how to get to that program up via a different way?

I'll get Mrs. Big J.R. to check it out later this afternoon.

('Er Indoors loves a challenge. After all, she married me !)

Incidentally, I had problems with Microsoft Spyware in the past

I will give a general recommendation to the running of a "suite" of prophylactic measures to prevent one's pc becoming infected.

Since I have been running all of the following programmes, I have never been bothered by any kind of viral attack... any such incoming have been immediately destroyed.

McAfee VirusScan & Firewall.

GriSoft AVG (7.0)

Zone Labs Zone Alarm

LavaSoft Ad-Aware SE

PestPatrol

Spybot S&D

It might be possible to cull one or two of these from the suite without detriment to the protection offered - however I have not been willing to experiment in this manner !

(If it ain't broken, don't fix it !)

Most of these can be picked up from the net on a free basis for private pc's - My McAfee was included in an MSN package and the only one I had to pay for otherwise was the Zone Alarm - but I have just renewed this cover at a cost of <£25 for the next two years !

These programmes all seem to mesh well together... I have not had any serious incompatability problems. The only things to note really are that (1) Pest Patrol will routinely "warn" you about the presence of Spybot whenever you run it (or is that vice versa - suddenly became unsure !) but is safely ignored and thus trivial. (2) In order to update Zone Alarm, one has to completely temporarily uninstall McAfee (VirusScan & Firewall), but there is no problem with reinstallation immediately following the ZA update.

Voilá - complete protection !

Yes it is Kosher, Mala, BUT you need to upgrade or download the current version, which I believe is 7.
