So Accy Stanley....?

Stanley looked a strong side. Very fit and well organised. You closed us doiwn well and looked strong in defence.

Mullin up front was superb, a real handful and was impressed with Rory Prendergast.

Your supporters made plenty of noise and I was surprised how many made the trip on a Tuesday night. Just the one drunken idiot but you get that anywhere.

All the best for the rest of the season.

its not sour grapes as the best side won with a bit in hand, we were very average last night, but you're not the best side I've seen here this season. ... early in the campaign Barnet impressed me and probably everyone since, Hereford gave us a good hiding and looked a more than useful side but you Stanley mob have got a team that give their all and work hard for each other and that might be the important factor in the run in and possible play offs. ... me personally would like to see you make it back to the football league proper, you're a club with a big history and it would be good to see you edge out H'ford and A'shot, not my 2 favourite teams.

... off the field, credit to the 60 or so that made the long journey and gave the team excellent backing, ... shame about the one abusive dipstick but he got his come-uppance with a couple of lusty blows to his head, he was pretty drunk though and we've all been there haven't we. ... anyhow good luck for the run in and if you dont make it I will look forward to coming back up your way next season and hopefully be made as welcome as this time. ... take care, best wishes mate.

What a wonderfully refreshing change to come onto this discussion board and read some real comment about a football game. Congratulations to the contributors to this short thread and I hope many more will come on and add to the discerning comment and appraisal that has gone before.

It is possible to post here without mentioning scumbags, chavs, gypsies, etc., etc. And the discussion is all the better for it.

I thought Canvey played some of their better football on Tuesday and although it wasn't good enough on the night, at least there was an honest performance from just about all the players. I believe that one of the reasons for our league position this term has been the half-hearted approach we have seen from too many players on too many occasions. Whether this is a problem within the players themselves or whether it is a man management problem, I don't know.

Accrington are a very useful side and they closed us down extremely well, forcing us into mistakes which meant we lost the ball in midfield far too often. Their fans were a real credit to them coming all that way and getting behind their team in the way they did.

Best performance of the night must go to Tony Richardson. The foul on Duffy in the second half made him see red and, as the lino wouldn't come to him to discuss it, Tony walked all the way round to have a 'quiet' word in the lino's ear <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" />. In terms of aggressive and abusive fans, I find the great thing about Tony is that he is genuinely funny (well, he makes me laugh anyway) and there is nothing malicious in his banter. Wish there were more of him.

I have been to I think every home game and all the away games within a two hour drive. I have got to say we have not always played as well as I hoped and at times our inexperience has shown, on a rare occassion I think our heads have dropped to easily. I also think that some players are not bright enough to play at this level.

I do believe we have never been out classed and a lot of times lost games we could have drawn and drawn games we could have won.

A lack of concentration at a crutial time etc.

Nobody has thumped us, teams seem to be that little bit more canny than us, able to make a simple challenge look like a foul and making a foul by them look like a simple challenge.

I have carried out a little review and I reckon if we were given big decisions that should have gone our way. Fouls conceded that were bad decisions by refs (Duffy not being given a foul on Tuesday indirectly resulted in a goal).

If all of these decisions were reversed and goals removed we would now be sitting in 12th place.

Does that say something about our experience or the poor refereeing.

What do we think was the most expensive mistake by an official this season?

Just watched the video of the game and it wasn't actually a foul on Duffy, he took the ball cleanly.

However, the foul he gave on Keelo was totally wrong and then booked him for it!!

See for yourselves in the clubhouse tonight if they choose to put that game on.

It works both ways as well. Boylan's goal against Gravsend after a foul by Greggors and Ollie's second against Woking (was it over the line, did he kick it out of the keeper's hands?)

Notice the ref on Tuesday was the same one that refereed the imfamous Northwich game that Jeff ranted about? I think Mr Ward may not be particularly keen on Canvey.
