This is very true, AFF1 (not the bit about when you grew up!) and was very much in my mind as I typed out my little rant. The "good old days" never existed - or rather, they exist in the mind of every generation!

As I said, it is a minority who misbehave substantially. But whether that minority is larger than it was in previous years or not, it is large enough to require action. Obviously policeman going around at night telling them to behave, dispersing large groups and performing nickings when required (policing?) is a silly idea.

4am this morning, I heard a bang outside. Went to my window and then heard a smash.

Some [****!!****] in a blue hoodie had smashed the glass in the bus stop.

Wouldn't surprise me if he was tanked up on strong lager, skunkweed, and junk food!

Lucky sod! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The problem being Mal, that there's nothing you can do about it. Slip a pair of strides on and nip outside to remonstrate with and maybe to apprehend the villain? Nah, maybe not. Ring the old bill who would thank you profusley for your public spiritdness and at once send a burly constable or two round to restore law and order? Only in Miss Marple!

So everyone queues for the bus in a pile of glass sherds with the rain coming the gap (if it's raining) until eventually it gets mended.

..... Or Tom Barnaby in Midsummer !

Teacher gets sent down for using a pellet gun against chavs.

There's no f'kin justice in this country any-more !

Well to be fair the teacher did commit an offence... two wrongs don't make a right, however much one may sympathise with him/her (forgotten, it was a her, wasn't it?).

However, and bearing in mind that I don't know all the facts, one would have thought that something like a suspended sentence or a token five shilling fine would have been more appropriate, taking all the circumstances (intimidation, desperation, previous good character and so on) into consideration. Further, the point should have been taken and action taken against the chavs, like some old fashioned policing.....

t.v. celebrity makes fuss on telly about kids eating sh.te at school.

govmnt ignores him..

sun prints story..

govmnt sh.ts its pants and panics a bit..

govmnt makes up number with millions on the end and promises to spend it on school dinners..

sun says hurrah, interview with little billy who says he dosent know what a carrot is but thank god for jamie and the sun...

.

2 days later some research suggests that the money promised is bollox and is a book keeping entry made twice in reverse in 25 yrs time and even if it was true would make less than zero difference..

people dont care, attention span of 4 hours mean they are vaguly happy that a number with millions in it has been promised to do something they were a bit concerned about..

jamie gets a new t.v. series and shuts up ..

sainsburys uses the whole thing to try to sell more kit kats by promising to buy schoold p.e. kit which appears to be big plastic feet for kelly holmes and some fat kids to run around in..

Surrey County Council has just printed a response in our local newspaper.

They spend 52p per meal on INGREDIENTS from a budget of £1-45 or £1-50 per meal depending on primary or secondary school.

They go to great odds to explain they are 'Non-Profit Making', YET any profits get ploughed back into the school food system. (Hmmm !)

I think at the last audit, prisoners enjoying Her Majesty's Pleasure are allocated around 80 pence per meal for ingredients.

No wonder so many of our up and coming Chav's opt for Her Majesty's Pleasure !!
