That is [****!!****] [****!!****]!! If we can't get some sort of result against Leigh then we should be in Conference South!

We do deserve to go down there is no excuses for losing to Leigh RMI.

Look like we are going to survive as Forest Green lost again. AS long as we are at least 3 points ahead of them going into the last game we will be alright.

Well done to Northwich they have pulled off a miracle to stay up.

There are going to have to be a lot of changes made if we are to have any chance of staying up next season.

Lost 2-1 but Forest Green won as well. It makes you wonder if this team deserves our support. To lose to Leigh is truly unthinkable. A draw would have been OK and in fairness looking at the games FGR still have to play a draw on Saturday coupled with another defeat for FGR would probably make us safe.

This team show no consistancy. They put in heroic displays against Exeter and Barnet and then play [****!!****] against a bunch [****!!****] pub team!

I better stop before this thread gets deleted but this is pissing me off. Do we really want to play Yeading, Sutton and St Albans next season? Come on Canvey get your act together. You have the support so lets get the point needed. We shouldn't have to rely on FGR's ineptness to stay up

Sorry but pretty [****!!****] off at the moment!! To those who went tonight, well done lads!!

Just imagine if Leigh, Farnborough & Northwich hadn't been reprieved at the end of last season.

Forest Green are already showing signs of scrapping for points, as they did against us a couple of matches ago, so get your brown underpants ready - you're in for a nervous end to the season!!!

Kind of depends how Hucknall, Telford and Margate would have done in the Conference.

Margate have had an awful season this year and look like they might be relegated to Conf South.

Hucknall have proved they're a decent side and look like they'll reach the Trophy final.

Loking at Forest Green's fixtures they Carlisle away then Hereford at Home in thier next two games. if they lose them both then they are as good as relegated.

I am just glad we got off to a good start because without that good start we would already be down by now.

A very disappointing display, overly negative until halftime by which point Leigh looked comfortable defending against us. Only proper shot on target to mention was from Greggors which forced a good stop from their keeper, but neither keeper had much to do all night.

The game see to go that we'd attack, Leigh would get the ball around the edge of their box and hoof it to our defence, and we'd attack again. This rolled over and over until the game became very boring and uneventful.

Woeful attendance, even though the minibus was the defintion of comfort - Well Done Mark!!

IF (and I do mean if) we stay up this season we will be odds-on favourites to go down next season. I thought a few more points would see us safe and thought we should get at least one against Leigh. We will get nothing at Tamworth now so need to beat either Scarborough or York at home (preferably both). Having to secure something from the final game at Forest Green just does not bear thinking about.

I would not fancy our chances of having to get a result away against FGR in the last game if need be. Sure they will have more experience for this occasion as they have been here before.

Agree.

This should have been one of them games where the management don't need to stress the importance to the players or "pump" them up.

Looked like the same starting formation as the one against Exeter with the exception of Notto for Midgely. Mcghee pushing forward, with Smith, Ward and Dom at the back.

If it was three at the back again it was exposed pretty quickly by Leigh with a nice ball from the side into the middle for their player to latch onto and no one able to get across to stop him. Their second goal was simlar with a through ball again. They did score a third with Smithy out of position and the guy unmarked but it was flagged for offside.

The performance seemed lack lustre with little movement off the ball. Keeling being an exception who was brought down in the box and Junior scored from the spot. Scores level and all to play for again.

Second half saw Leigh pinned in their own half with 11 players behind the ball and only breaking away on rare occassions. Every time we got the ball in or around the area they would punt it back and we would push forward again. The worrying thing was that we couldn't carve out an opportunity and their keeper (same as Danny) had little to do. Our game seemed to mirror Leighs with the ball being pumped forward rather than played to feet.

Mario was taken off after half time and replaced by Greggors who IMHO battled hard and won many of the headers. It was Greggors who had the best chance which was a shot (possible half volley?)but flew straight at the keeper who parried the ball over - but we just didn't get that break in front of goal. Hallet was also brought on presumably to push for the equaliser with 10 minutes to go and replaced Wardy.

Pretty grim night up't north - only Northwich doing us a favour.

We were, however, talking about IF Margate & Telford hadn't left the conference - not what the teams have done this season. Margate had some decent players that aren't there anymore (a few came to us ) as did Telford & would have been tougher opposition than the likes of Leigh & Farnborough.

Not wishing for you to be relegated, merely pointing out that, in one sense, you're lucky that the teams in the relegation places getting reprieved probably did you a favour.

I don't think you've got too much to worry about ....although...not wishing to give you nightmares...but in 2000, we were 3-0 down in the penultimate game at Kidderminster came back to draw 3-3, then 0-0 in the last game v Kettering with 10 mins to go, won 2-0, stayed up on goal difference. So you never know. That team however had a lot more team spirit than the 52 assorted misfits, mis-shapes, crocks and banana-wielding pranksters that have represented FGR this season.

You are pretty lucky this season though, 46-48 points is the usual 3rd from bottom total and Kettering finished miles adrift two season ago with 31 points. It could well be that none of the bottom 3 get that many this season. This season there have been 3 hopeless cases (4 counting yourselves!) plus a 3 legged-horse in Northwich and York City would have been in dire trouble most seasons.

Ah well, may the best (least bad!) team stay up. I think we all deserve to go down if the truth be known. The ironic thing is my local Conference team is......... Canvey Island! I live in Wickford.
