where was Jeff

we are at the end of the season and we are fighting for our place in the conference and Jeff King decides this would be a great time to go on holiday, i dont know if there are reasons for his trip that i dont know but am i the only person who feels this is a time that he should be with the team. it is bad enough that he misses all of the pre season friendlies when he should be looking at possible players but to miss such an important game as tuesdays was terrible. does anyone else agree with me or am i just being petty

Jeff was there on tuesday and f**ked off on a ski-ing holiday the following morning, yes I said ski-ing, ... can you imagine it. ... basically he's gone away at a time when no other manager in our position would even think of doing so to have a few beers, ... bless him, ... he could have waited another couple of weeks. ... he is not on any scouting mission as the non league paper suggested unless of course he proves us all wrong and comes back with a couple of lightening fast french wingers on skis!

the man has done great for Canvey but his responsibility lies with the team at this moment not just going away fingers crossed and hoping all is well for his return. ... Jeff also disappeared for 4/5 weeks break around December time, he certainly is dedicated . . . . . . . to his position! OH NO NOT POSITION, HE'S DEDICATED TO HIS HOLIDAYS. . . . Come on Jeff, the team comes first.

Mayhap, he has got the ache with the lack of support in numbers and has decided to take the drop to where glories are easier found! its tuff and expensive in the top flight of our non league game.

Has he perhaps resigned himself out of frustration with the squad, to a return to a lower league.

I wonder if the players have considered that should the club be relegated, then what other team would want their services, having taken note no doubt of their performances this season!

Any views on the above possibilities? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Oh my God you have committed the biggest crime on earth, you have critisized the almighty Jeff, you will find that there will be very little response from the Park Lane faithfull as he can do no wrong in their eyes.Whenever anyone has the guts to say something about the Management a deathly hush comes over the forum or you will be slated for daring to critisize the great man.

We will never progress any further until the club decide to employ a manager with experience at a higher level.

Right there you are ive said it,bring on the abuse.

No abuse from me Yellowbird, totally agree we need a manager that has played and managed at this level and better, ... I vaguely remember someone posting something along these lines a little while back. ... look at the league table and most of the successful teams, ie: the top half ... most have such managers in place.

We still need Jeff at the club in a different capacity as he is Canvey Island football club and the place would never be the same without him but next season must see some major changes if we are to make our mark in this division, ... also what happened to the plans for the new ground, does anyone know?

I am off for a week in Somerset so I will not see any further comment until next Saturday.

Before I go I would like to say what a load of old bo??ox you come on here and slag off a man that has given his all to this club, where would you rather be in the Essex Senior League.

Go away and wind someone else up, I do not mind genuine comment but stand up and put your real name on it and stop trying to make mischief with the club I suppport.

If you are unhappy with the manager stand in front of him and say it otherwise you are not worthy of a comment.

We are not Barnet, but give us two or three years and we might be.

Put your name on your posts or be seen for what you are cowards, snides and shisters.

We have risen at a meteoric rate and we are close to being the fast rising side in football, look at the big picture.

We have a good manager and good staff, look back at what he said would happen at the start of the season, if he is wrong then have a dig, but he has been bang on so far.

I can't help but feel that the manager of the team should be here for this all important running. In Jeff's interview Dick Marshall asked him if he felt for the travelling Canvey fans, and he replied that he was but he knows how we feel because he picks the team. Surely going on holiday at this point is a total contradiction.

I think one of the reasons we find ourselves in the trouble we are in is due to over confidence. I along with most others believed that we didn't stand a chance of being relegated a month ago, and this has certainly been echoed in the Echo by people within the club. The difference is Northwich and Forest Green have been expecting relegation for a while and have made the changes. On the other hand, I feel that we have become complacent as fans and the team and we may well pay the price.

jeff and glenn manage the team.. i dont think glenn is short of football knowledge compared to jeff.. if our team cant perform with 100 per cent plus effort and motivate themselves for our next 2 home games without jeff to hold their hands then we are in trouble..

somehow i think they are more than capable of coping

the problem comes when the management have a habbit of banning people for saying things against the club. people banned because there web site didnt say what the club wanted it to and people being threatened refusal of admission to park lane due to things said on here. i for one feel that Jeff diserves another season, to see if he learns from his mistakes, if he does then all well and good, if he doesnt then it is obvious we need someone else.

I also support Canvey, every game infact and love every minute of it. ... I never criticised Jeffs achievements with this club and they are second to none, ... all I said was that and like others since should be at the matches at this vital time, ... he is our manager, the holiday could have waited a fortnight or so.

I feel my post is genuine comment and you are wrong slagging me off, ... was you just in a s**t mood the day you replied and decided to have a pop at me. ... anyhow I look forward to your reply when you get back from your scouting mission (sorry holiday) ... was a genuine slip of the fingers, ... looks like you've got a good week, enjoy it mate, have cider or ten for me.

Tend to agree. Glenn and Jeff have both stated we should be safe and for the last 5 games I've felt 4 points would be enough to keep us up but we've failed to get the points against opposition that were quite frankly mediocre to say the least.

Depending on tomorrow's FGR game Saturday is a must win game.

I sort of see where people are coming from on this one, however, MOB has a point.

People should look at what Jeff has done for this club. So to criticise him in a sarcastic way just doesn't seem right to me.

I agree with certain points and a lot of sense is being made, but come on guys... just keep it constructive. It angers a lot of people and doesn't get us anywhere.
