Since man (and woman) learnt to survive the thing we have been best at is hurting our fellow man. I'd be interested to know how many times we think nice friendly things compared to how many times we think nasty hateful things during the day.

Some of us go out in the moring with the soul intent and purpose of hurting each other.

Why?

Religion?

Perhaps. Look at the situation in the middle east. The situation over there is basically because of land and two seperate parties believe they own it. Look at the world since 9/11. How many times have you heard that it is the purpose of Allah to blow up the westerner. Ironically when the prophet wrote the Quaran (Holly book of Muslims) gunpowder hadn't been invented so how the idea "blow someone up" came about is beyond me.

A thought on that is Harry has probably got his facts wrong again but I have on many occasions the exact quote above. If anyone would like to correct me they are more than welcome.

Anyway not wishing to single out muslims Christianty also has hatred for people on this earth. Homosexuals, adalterers, gamblers ect ect ect in fact religion hates those that do not do as they do. So who can win? Religion teach's you to hate.

Greed is another thing. By the way greed is a sin. So if religion teach's you something (hate) but then goes against something (greed) else that also teach's you the same thing (hate again) then what are we to believe? Hate greedy people less because they somehow have the same urges and feelings as themselves?

Greed is terrible. You have something, you want more. In fact you want so much more that you willing to stop at nothing to get it. Even other peoples feelings. Your willing to put someone else through pain to get what you want.

Anger, because of something that happened in you life you feel the need to control them or hurt them.

Sorry you have all had to read this but I just felt the need, waned away a bit at the end I know. Perhaps I'll add some more later, if you would like to add anything yourselves feel free.

With the election post going the way it was I just felt the need. People seemed to be very hate filled at the moment, I just wanted to let my own feelings be know on the matter.

Like I say feel free to add anything.

Cheers,

Harry

Too true, Harry.

I have to say though that I saw the good side of things on Sunday - my son is in the Cubs and my Daughter in the Beavers, and both took part in a well attended St Georges Day Parade & Service in Rochester.

It was great to see so many young people turning out - the Cathedral was 80% full with Cubs, Scouts and Beavers, all of whom renewed their scout promise.

It was a nice lively service as well, which held the attention well.

And to cap it off, there were quite a few spectators along the short route round Rochester High Street, to whom all the Kids seemed proud to show their membership of Uniformed Groups.

If you have kids, I really do recommend the Scout movement to help their self confidence and to help them learn - it has done my kids a power of good.

Hmm yes, I agree. Other major causes of hate/negative emotions:

The Internet/computers. The things some people say to people on message boards (for example) would be very strange and deemed out of order if said in person. Some people go over-the-top on the smallest thing or treat people they hardly know in rather condescending ways. I'm not singling out this forum inparticular - it happens on pretty much every one, as far as I'm aware. I'm also not claiming to be totally innocent either.

Computers can lead to all sorts of problems. Of course, computers can be great and can give you all sorts of information very quickly, but people can become addicted to them quite easily, like with games consoles, except with computers you can actually talk to other people and get a bit of social interaction in. But talking over the internet is no substitute for going out places with people you actually know what they look and sound like.

It's been proven that computers can cause loneliness. Loneliness can lead to bitterness and jealousy and from then on, who knows? The person could do anything from insulting people to killing people.

I was going to go into a few other causes, but I think that'll do for now. I hope at least one person agrees.

This shouldn't be moved to the pub. Nor should the general election thread.

In this forum you can post about whatever you like, as long as it doesn't break the rules. It has been explained a number of times (and once this week by me already).

The election thread had 121 replies and 1716 views when I checked yesterday which indicates to me that it's a subject that people here want to talk about. If it's not something that floats your boat, don't click on it. Sure things got a little heated here and there, but that's open discussion for you.

Now as to wether we should let Harry create threads, that's another matter

deep stuff there!
I think its all part of human nature to feel anger hatred and intent to kill sometimes! As long as religion exists, people are going to be hateful and destructive.

Just imagine that eh?

Yes, I knew this. I still don't see how that makes Holden Caulfield the killer of John Lennon. Mark Chapman was just a nutcase loser with a thing for a boring novel.

Nothing happens in the damn thing! I was 100 pages through the 200 odd page book thinking that something had to happen soon, but nothing ever did.

And I think that Chapman shooting Lennon and leaving Yoko may be a sign that there is no God.

I'm in a poor mood today, need to cheer up lol
