Due to personal circumstances will not be able to update main site until Thursday or even Friday but, as a taster:
Enfield 4 v 0 Hitchin Town
- Georgiou, Rufus (2), Peddie
Isthmian League Cup - 3rd Round
Tuesday 5th February 2002
Vote For MOTM Here!
Enfield did not bungle the opportunity of disposing of Hitchin Town to reach the quarter finals of the League Cup - Away to Hampton - on a very zippy surface. Hitchin had more possession in the first 20 minutes or so but did not make the most of the few opportunies which they had.
In the final minute of the half George Gregoriou, who has developed a great understanding with George Georgiou, set him up with a fine through ball. Georgiou beat the Hitchin keeper with ease.
HT Enfield 1-0 Hitchin Town
The second half was all Enfield apart from a 5 minute spell or so around the 20th minute after Hitchin made a couple of changes but by then it was all over.
Marvin Rufus put The E's 2-0 up in the first minute of the half heading home after a superb Simon Peddie cross.
Rufus scored his second on 58 minutes - this time benefiting from some good work from Gregoriou.
Simon Peddie also received the benifit of what most have been one of Gregoriou's best performances in an Enfield shirt to make it 4-0 with 15 minutes remaining to score his first goal for the Club.
During the last 10 minutes both Dean Fenton and Ian Hilaire, who came on as late substitutes, could have added to the tally.
FT Enfield 4-0 Hitchin Town
