I Hope that whoever sorts out the fixtures give E's and Town The Boxing day /new years day or Easter weekend Bank Holiday for the Enfield derby matches. It may push a thousand next time.

If it makes sense it will never happen.

It may not happen. Bank Holidays are used for local derbies in the Southern League but, according to the maps/miles section of another site, Enfield's local derby next season is Harlow Town. More telling is that, for Enfield Town, they have four closer matches than Enfield - namely Ilford, Potters Bar Town, Waltham Forest and Wingate & Finchley. Therefore, it would not be obvious to put an ETFC v EFC match on a Bank Holiday.

Appreciate what you say PBT, but ETFC v EFC will create a lot more interest than any other local derby each club may have next season.

The last and only two occasions our clubs have met have brought in 562 & 614 . If both matches are played on a bank holiday it should top the vase match crowd .I cant see that the E's V Town fixtures could be ignored on bank holiday.

I presume the fixtures list has not been compiled yet? I suggest someone contacts the league, requesting a boxing day fixture between the two clubs.

But don't you also have to look at who Ilford, for example, are nearest to. That's not ETFC.

Correct. Ilford would surely get Barking or Waltham Forest, Potters Bar have so many local clubs by them it could be anyone, and Wivenhoe are so far out on their own that someone will get the short straw, it's quite possible that that could be Harlow.

Tell me what sort of ointment you are and I'll tell you what type of fly we are!

Seriously, there are usually two holiday fixtures at Christmas and two at Easter so the chances are that you could well end up with an Enfield "derby" and one other game. In an ideal world you would play each other on 26th Dec and we would play one of you on the 27th or vice-versa.

To answer Lovely Stuff's query - all Southern League clubs are asked to nominate one club they would prefer to play on these Bank Holiday dates and the League will try to accommodate these requests as best as possible.

Not sure about Boreham Wood v Dartford. How many fellow League clubs would Dartford have to drive past to get to the Wood? Hardly a local bank holiday game, is it?

You cant please everyone thats almost impossible. I would have thought Borehamwood v potters bar is the closest to you. Freebird hasn't done bad there though.

Dartfords nearest rival club is Aveley. Just the other side of the dartford crossing. Harlow would be better off playing waltham forrest,Barking could play Ilford. Other than that I think everyone is suited

That would mean sittingbourne are cast adrift without a local derby.
