http://www.canveyfc.com/ What a great website it was

Recommended Posts

Just been on the old Canvey website and it brought back a lot of good memories.

Its as if time has stood still on that Website our last game on there according to the website was 30th August 2003 away to Harrow where we won by 1-0 thanks to a goal from Lee Boylan and a game I attended.

Its so sad there Ian, Merv and Matt had to stop that Website it is far superior to the Official Website and I really miss it particularly the Match Reports which were always from the fans point of view.

I just hope one day they are able to reactivate it. In the 5 years I have followed Canvey the incident of their Website having to be discontinued is the one sour note of following Canvey.

I don't think any of us would have the time to keep it as well maintained as it used to be.

After each game the three of us would have a running schedule:

Merv would concentrate on producing another tasty report, Ian would be concentrating on selecting his very best photographs and I would just be updating the little bits that you first see on the site when you got home.

This coming season two of us at least wouldn't be able to do that - Ian certainly with his Press duties at Hornchurch and Me as I'll be moving away in September for three years of tax evasion <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> (Wycombe Wanderers being my new nearest team).

We've left the old website in suspended motion, for you all to remember as best as it was, rather than the struggle with what would've been a less detailed and updated version now. This would be the same reason we wouldn't do an official website. It wouldn't be much better than what it is now.

We did contemplate turning 'official' several seasons before the ban was issued, but at the time we didn't want to be moderated by the club and wished to remain solely run for fans by fans.

its a shame you didnt make it through that season as it was the one we finally got promoted in.. that would have been the perfect place to leave it.. all because the 'management' couldnt handle a very well deserved slating after an abject performance at bishops stortford

Agree - certainly got the fans point across and it was a valid one after the B.Stortford game.

Like I say - got the point across to the extent that it kicked started our season.

If it was still around perhaps last season may have been slightly different after fans comments of playing four at the back, tactics etc.
