Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At long bloody last we beat Aldershot and the arcitect of our last win against the Shots came up trumps again.

Lee Boylan produced two goals as we came from behind to beat the Shots in an absorbing match but my oh my did we leave it late!!!

We started brightly and the Shots couldn't get into the game. Lee broke through but had the effort snatched off him by Nikki Bull.

We were playing some good football but had a wake up call when McKinney had to turn a first time shot away for a corner. From the resulting corner Scott Guyett stole in at the back post to send a looping header into the net.

The Canvey fans were stunned and we seemed to lose our way a touch. Tim Sills broke through and screwed his shot wide and Shots had a couple of other chances.

We did end the half strongly and should have equalised when Mints' curling effort was saved and the rebound fell to Lee. Somehow Bull managed to stop the effort but it looked a bad miss by Lee.

Second half started and was no more than a minute old when David Lee went down under a Mints' challenge and after a delay of nearly 10 minutes, Lee was carried off with suspected damage to his tibia.

We pressed Shots but couldn't really find the opening while Shots looked lively at the other end. Sills and Bertie Brayley went off and with the rather inmobile Paul Kitson coming on, we started to take a real stranglehold.

An effort was volleyed high over the bar and Lee had a couple of efforts, one first time effort that Bull saved.

Clarke was getting down the flanks but not really delivering, whilst JK and Duffers were linking up superbly but the final ball wasn't quite there and the frustration grew amongst the Yellow Army.

Jon Keeling came on and immediately caused havoc. At last we got a break with four minutes to go the ball broke to Lee who burst clear of the defender and placed his shot to perfection beyond the keeper.

We had the impetus now and with over 10 minutes of stoppage time we looked for the winner. That came when Alan Tait broke into the box and was caught by a clumsy challenge by Jinadu. The ref immediately pointed to the spot and Lee gave the keeper no chance with a great finish.

Keeling could have added a third with a great run and shot that Bull turned behind. The stoppage time seemed to go on for ever but we did a professional job with JK holding the ball in the corner in the last few minutes.

Overall a super performance. We played some great attacking football and for once we had a bit of luck. Our defending at times was rather lacklustre and we need to work more on our final ball especially crosses in to the box. For me Clarke was a touch dissapointing but there's enough potential to suggest he'll improve.

JK is a player reborn and was outstanding on right wing. Duffers was excellent defensively and attacking wise and Bimson had another solid game.

Felt Tait didn't get into the game enough but did win the crucial penalty. As for Lee, well he just gets better and bettter.

Nice to have three points on the board and it's Gravesend on Saturday who have made a hideous start to the season.

Up the Yellows.

Great report YELLOW! Wondered why it took so long for "Res" to appear on Ceefax. What kind of curse is Aldershot under? Ouch!

Did Tait start the match and how did he do through this 90 minutes as I read he tired during the last 10-15 minutes at Acrrington Stanley.

We knew Keeling would get it going, shame he didn't start! Also great to hear that JK is back on song! How was the crowd there tonight?

Yellow were you listening to me in the car on the way home that is exactly what I said.

I think Tait is still settling in and at times we try the flick over the top when a nice crisp pass across the box along the floor would be the bigger threat.

Were did we get the bloke from, I think his name was JK, he was like a new player, when there is competition for places some people step up to the mark.

Crowd was 1,210 and very vocal. Great atmosphere tonight.

As for JK, he was everywhere tonight and his link up play with Duffers was exceptional. Both were excellent on Saturday and continued it tonight.

So much to say after finally seeing a competitive match for several months!

Most Canvey players were outstanding tonight and a convincing win. Big applause to JK, Bimson, Duffy and Boylan all of them I thought were quality tonight. McKinney too.

Bimson started to tire in the second half and that's when their number 14, Sulaiman came into his own and really looked good on the right.

JK and Duffy kept a level head throughout the game, their link up lead to most of Canvey's attacks and their one-two, through balls were hitting mark nearly everytime.

The Boylan/Tait partnership seems to be developing as each game goes on. A few more games together and I think Tait could be hitting the back of the net himself.

However, could someone please tell me how Dwain Clarke is keeping Jon Keeling out of the First XI? I thought he was easily our weakest link tonight. His communication with Bimson was very faulty. Bimson was very professional as you'd expect but Clarke just didn't do it for me tonight. I wanted Keeling on by half-time at least! He seemed to wander out of position and lose his width. Some of his deliver was poor too. I feel Keeling could do a much better job. Have Keeling for Clarke in the starting line-up against Gravesend and maybe we can get as many as Grays did tonight!

Not wishing to bad mouth him too much but Clarke was also partly to fault for their goal too along with Theobald.

The cross comes over and Clarke freezes at the far post letting the ball fly over him to the three Aldershot players waiting for it. One that Clarke was meant to be keeping an eye on and the two that run in with Theobald, everyone missed the ball and the third Aldershot player headed it back over everyone else including Theobald who had obscured McKinney's view and into the back of the net.

We were all stunned after that, especially seeing as all the Canvey players around the ball just watched it fly over them. At the time we had, had more shots on goal than them too!

I think the Ref missed a few key decisions for both sides tonight. There were some definate nudges and a couple of handballs that he let go for Canvey at least. I'm sure Shots fans will have something to say about him too.

Whoever Canvey play at Centre-Back be it, Theobald, Chenery, Sterling, Bunce, Wardy etc. We'll always hold our breath at some of their play. Theo and Chenner won everything in the air during the first 40 minutes or so then the Shots players began to suss it out and time their jumping better. Neither of them were too bad tonight, although once we'd taken the lead some of Theo's ball control was heart pounding stuff!

I'm convinced that Tait will come good soon and link up well with Boylan in superb fashion.

I'm hoping for more of the same on Saturday please Canvey, with just the minor change of Keeling for Clarke and we'll be well away!!!!

Let's go f*king mental!!! Joint 12th in the League.

great result and well deserved should have been a couple more.JK is like a new signing, boylan and tait will only get better. keeling totally terrified them, duffers and bimson looked good, need danny back in goal. The midfield were good but must stop giving the ball away.

what was chenery on in injury time could have thrown it all away we need to sharpen up in defence but very pleasing evening.

At least we dont have to wait til october for the first home win and lets get another one on saturday against wobbly gravesend(beaten 6-1 tonight)crowd was 1216 so even that was good.

but the team looks much stronger than last year

Good report Yellow.

I arrived a tad late but whilst I was still a little way off the ground I could hear a load of noise. Thought it was the Shots fans but as I got nearer it was the Yellow Army in full voice.

Looked like a smaller than normal following for the Shots so the crowd isn't to bad. Hopefully an exciting game like that will draw them back on Saturday.

Was a bit dismayed to find Clarke starting - but hey ho. Again last 15 minutes or so they bring Keeling on. Jeff on Essex Radio said he didn't start as he had a poor pre season. At the moment Clarke doesn't get the ball across enough.

Tait didn't look as comfortable as he did at Accy - not sure why. Shots did have some big boys at the back.

Brimson played well again and at first I was suprised when he was subbed. I've got to get to grips with this tactics lark.

I wasn't a fan of Duffers towards the end of last year - perhaps he was struggling with confidence. This season he seems to have turned around again. His service from that side probably makes Clarke look as though he ain't trying. Again JK looked well out of his depth last year and I wasn't expecting him to contribute much this season - but what a bloody suprise he has been along side Duffers.

Lee managed to get that touch of luck that he didn't get at Accy.

Still problems at the back with no one near the cross converted by Guyett. Chenners still playing the ball into trouble occassionally and Theobald drawn out of position occassionally. Once Brimson or Duffers ran out of defence we seem to struggle organising ourselves if there is a counter attack.

Anyway it was a great display tonight and this year I didn't get soaked - watch out G&N. And this year I didn't get soaked

Hope David Lee recovers.

What a result! Thought we played well with the odd mistake by Clarke and Theobald but what the hell we still won.

Keeling turned the game round and the pace quickened. Agree with someone else who questioned as to why he was in the starting X1.

Dont think I've shouted that much in ages - my voice has gone lol

Well done to the Yellow Army and the drummers - you were great - loud, consistant and in tune. Maybe if you went back behind the goal more would join in.

Good luck to David Lee

MOB, the reason that the drum you bought wasn't there was cos the skin broke at Accrington! I reckon it must just have been an old skin, so I'm getting it redone in time for Burton. It's all painted yellow though so we're ready to go.

BTW it sounded good when it was going!!

Bimmson was amazing last night, every single attack in the first half started with him, he controlled the defence superbly, but most of all he controlled the long balls that came to him rather that just head them back to the oposition. 10/10

From what I have seen of Bimson he is a class act.

Just doesn't seem to connect with Clarke that well - although I don't think it's Bimsons fault.

Controls the ball well in defence and pushes forward starting our next attack.

It's early days but if he continues to play the way he has done I think he could be a possible player of the year.

A very pleasing result and things look bright for the rest of the season. We played better last season and lost games so it`s good to see us getting the result even when you started to think it wasn`t to be again!

As has been said before i thought Bimson and Duffy were class but John Kennedy was a cut above, now injury free he looks like he`s enjoying his football again which is good news for us.

Decent crowd with a lot of new faces, with games and results like that hopefully we will see them on a regular basis.

Bimson sounds like a star so far and lets hope he is well again and fighting fit for Saturday. I always pictured us with a very solid left back and it was a shame when Dicks didn't make it (will never forget seeing him play in yellow though in the FA Cup!) and it sounds like Bimson is very professional but won't beat around the bush if he has something to tell his team-mates.

And please START KEELING. How did Clarke look in pre-season? I thought when we signed him he would be backup to Keelo but it looks as though it's Keeling's job to fight for the place. Never a bad thing to have competition but it sounds like he has earnt a start with his limited time so far.

I was at the game last night, my firsst for a few months and I have to say how imnpressed I was. The team seemed to play football and the movement made certain aldershot players look like they weren't even there. Lee took both his goals well and Tait looked lively so its only time before he begins to fire on all cylinders. Bimson at left back was solid and a real bonus in the team as he brought attacking options as well as defensive solidity. Personally I didn't think Clarke looked as lively as Keeling but Keeling seems to be a player who stretches teams at key points when he comes off the bench so perhaps we should give Clarke a bit longer to settle. McKinney did well and is probably the number two now.

A shame to see the injury to Dave Lee as no-one wants to see a players game ended in that way. Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.

As I said I was very impressed as Canvey seemed to knock it about very well and JK played far better than I remember seeing for a while. A great atmosphere coming from below the shelter so well done to the fans under there.

After seeing last nights performance and hearing how unlucky we were on Saturday, I hope things continue in this vain and good to see the new signings bringing quality to the team so congratulations to the management who may have taken time to sign players but obviously got what they wanted.

Hopefully we will build on last night and beat Gravesend who I hope will still be shellshocked after last night. Well done lads and keep up the good work

What a great game I was pretty much resigned to the fact that we would lose but what a great comeback. The game changed on Jon Keeling coming on he ripped their defence to shredds and I am sure everyone was puzzled why he didnt start. Lets hope he starts on Saturday, Gravesend's defence will not be too confident after the drubbing they had at Grays.

Great performance from JK looks like he is back to his best. He struggled last season but on last nights performance it looks like he has adjusted to the pace of the Conference.

I thought Lee Boylan looked awful for 85 minutes of the game last night he missed an open goal in the 1st half and really looked out of sorts but like all good strikers he kept going and ends up with two goals. I cant wait until he starts playing well!!

If last nights performace is anything to o by I think we will do okay this season and could be looking at a mid table finish.
