I think it's fair to say that there's plenty of work to do.

I wouldn't say performance-wise Chatham were 3 goals better than us on the night, but the result doesn't lie. They took their chances, we didn't. 3 of the players who played yesterday to my mind aren't good enough for this level, I won't name them because I want them to prove me wrong.

I reckon we need two experienced defenders, or we are in deep sh*t, I take it Gary Hoy played again last night then.

Louis is a quality keeper.

Was his hair permed this week, he does love to keep it immaculate? He might be small but he saved many a town shot when we played against him for Concord Rangers, Basildon United and Southend Manor.

Maybe the whole squad will be on their toes. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I'm not saying that these players will never be any good by the way, with decent coaching and regular games of course they can improve. The problem is do we have enough players of the standard we need now to stay up. I think we do, and I still think we'll finish in the top half, but games like Chatham make you wonder.

Just thinking about it, we are having the same problems at the moment in that we are playing teams experienced at this level and everyone is on a steep learning curve. The question is not always "are they up to it?" but "can they adapt quick enough?". Sometimes the most skillful looking players never reach the level needed but the workhorse does the job.
