Enfield 1-0 Barking & EHU

Enfield welcomed back Nick Turner,Owen Beale and Sid Nelson to our injury ravaged side. E's started the brighter with several early raids that came to nothing but barking always looked threatening with Lee Robinson called into action on a couple of occasions. Barking striker Joel Palmer was shown a yellow card on 24 mins for a theatrical dive over lee robinson when the two came face to face in a 50-50 challange just inside the box. on 33 mins a volley from a right wing cross from danny alleyne went inches wide.Enfield at this time were on top ,On 44 mins the goal of the season when a moment of inspiration from nathan smith picking up the ball from inside his own half saw him run 60 yards avoiding half a dozen tackles (John Barnes v Brazil style) to crack home into the top of Tony Tuckers net to put E's ahead. The second period saw barking much more responsive with a flurry of missed chances and a series of corners which Robinson and Turner dealt with for the most part , Barkings wayne vaughan put a header over the bar when well placed. On 78 mins Jeff Hammond found himself in a 1 on 1 with Tucker and all he had to do was square to kevin cooper for a tap in but Jeff somehow allowed Tucker to gather the ball with kevin cooper looking on in disgust,Jeff's follow through on Tucker resulted in a mild skirmish for which J H was booked Barking forced a few corners late on that came to nothing. And Enfield held on. Att 107.

A very welcome 3 points ,Our defence still looks very shaky at times . Nathan smith's effort was a fantastic goal. The boy is improving and they should stick with this kid . Good efforts from nick turner and owen beale today.

Yes, the game was alright. Should have one by two or more goes. We had Jeff Hammond missing a couple of sitters. But thats jus the nature of the game. Every game doesnt always go well for a player, so keep your head up Jeff.
But what a great goal from Nathan Smith. Ive watched this boy play on a couple occassions and I think he has the potential to progress to a higher level. Would many agree?

From what i've seen of Jeff Hammond, he looks very quick and gets himself into great goalscoing position, but he does tend to miss a lot of fairly easy chances, especially one-on-ones.

As an ex fellow night worker of 15 years, I can see you have worked hard to end up in Cuffley, I take my cap off to you Mr Egg, you are probaly a perfect example to Steph of a bad egg, who looks after number one & does not care about society,
Well I say your a good hard working egg, well done!!
