LOST AGAIN

Really pissed off right now. We played well first half and didn't deserve to be behind. Their keeper made an incredible save from Keeling, Dom hit the bar and the ref has missed a quite blatant handball. They go up the other end and score just before half time.

We start the second half like an express train. Mints scores a great equaliser after some great skill by Kezie. If Tait had scored when through on goal I'm sure we would have gone on and won.

We then concede a sloppy goal and the heads go down and we don't want to know. There's no fight, no belief, no idea. Burton scores just to rub salt in the wounds and to be honest it could have been more.

We were terrible second half and to be honest deserved to lose.

As for some of the Crawley supporters, just what kind of thrill do you get by trying to start fights in the car park? I really hope the sad muppet who wanted to take on our fans in the "underpass" is reading this. He and his Chav mates won't be laughing if they tried that sort of thing against Hereford or Aldershot!!

Some very sad and quite frankly moronic people at the game today. Sorry to all the genuine Crawley fans but there was a lot of muppets there today.

If ever there was a game of two halves, on the way out a couple of their supporters came up and sympathised reckoned we were robbed!!

I would not go that far but, if we took our chances in the first half we would have won!!

As for the referee, he thought it was a penalty, he looked across at the lino who was looking the other way 10 yards out of position.

Taite looks good but lacks commitment in my opinion, how many times did he go down under a nudge from behind and got nothing.

The drumming at times was excellent!!!

Ibe is gonna be class.

Firstly "no sour grapes" over the result but the officials seem to have their own competition going - "who can be the biggest twat official in non-league football" - where the [****!!****] do they get them??

Crawley have the worst disciplinary record in the league and the first thing they do is bear hug Tait and Ibe at every opportunity. Sometimes Tait was at fault but the majority should have been awarded. The ref set his stall out straight away - he wasn't going to give bugger all this afternoon.

Duffers sending off was an absolute joke and icing on the cake - both players went to ground in the box. There was a little tit for tat and the Crawley player conects his studs with Duffers head. They push each other get up and run out of the area. Their player catches Duffy up and barges him again so Duffers puts his elbow up. Agree he shouldn't have done it but their player went after Duffy to antagonise him. Linesman saw what he wanted to see and thats the way it went for most of the afternoon.

As for the game - uninspiring first half with no real pressure at either end except a brilliant save from Keeling. I wasn't concerned about a slow start as the changes to the squad would need a little time to settle.

Second half we come out with some determination and Minton gets a great equaliser. As you say Yellow, if Tait had taken that opportunity minutes later the game may have been very different.

A Crawley fan asked me after the game if I thought Lee Boylan would have made a difference? I said "yes" not because of his goal scoring record or skill on the ball but for his work rate and movement off the ball and thats what I feel we missed most this afternoon. We just seemed to really struggle this afternoon with players moving and creating space which meant we created little or no spells of real pressure.

We had two big forwards who didn't seem to get the service through midfield or the wings today. Normally you'd be looking for Duffers to swing that ball in all afternoon but today there was no real overlap between him and JK instead the ball was cut back and then squared across the area to the edge of the box where the attacks broke down. Not sure if Sedgemore not starting made harder work for Minton who seemed to be holding midfield on his own.

Cade started to get more room down the right and substituting Bimson left some room for them to get a cross in for Burton to score their third a few minutes later which put the game out of reach.

Can't really comment on our defensive performance this afternoon as I couldn't really make it out - be interesting to see Crawleys goals on Conference TV.

We have the players, they just need to work harder for each other off the ball. Whats worrying is that last year this was the time we picked up many vital points and looking at the teams we have played a majority are in the lower half of the table. We need a win soon just to stop any rot setting in. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I would one day love to see us experiment with Duffy doing Minton's role. He could turn into a quality attacking midfielder with his pace and height.

No need to worry about the left and right, we've got Bimson, Chenery, Conroy, Clarke, JK, Keeling, Wardy and Sterling for those places if needs be.

But I can see him running at defences with the ball at his feet as he does down the wing. He can use his height to knock the ball on to the forwards and still move back for defensive work too whilst hardly being knocked off the ball.

Good idea Matt but I believe most on here have different ideas of a team line up.
Not sure about Duffers in the middle. Feel that space on the left is a good area for him, just the same as the right is a good area for J Kennedy.
My current outfield player line up would be something like.
Conroy, Chenery, Ward, Bimson.
Kennedy/Keeling, Bunce, Sterling, Duffy/Clarke
Tait, Ibe.

Would give us 2 bigger guys in the middle as sometimes we have looked lightweight.
Kennedy and Duffy could be told to run their socks off to be replaced by Keeling and Clarke later on. Or perhaps if Bunce or Sterling come off, Keeling or Clarke could be used to take the game to them.

Remember Duffers playing more in the centre that year. He scored so many important goals.

Duffy was ridiculous, this is not the first time he has thrown an elbow at players. Right in front of the linesman as well, if it's that easy to get him sent off then he is a liability. He needs to forget any personal battles he's having and play for the team, not getting himself sent off and ending all hopes of a comeback.
