CIFC on Talk Sport Radio

Did anyone else hear the slot on hawksby & jacobs afternoon show on Talk Sport Radio all about Canvey Island FC today ??

It was brilliant, reported by a canvey fan called Steve and he gave a complete run down on the weeks events back to the win against scarborough and a match report on the woking game naming all our key players including chenners og! He then mentions tommorows game urging everyone to get down to the Lane and hawksby & jacobs made a bit of fun about our Park Lane stadium and does the Duke of Westminster know about the stadium in Mayfair.....!!

Absolute quality and they said they'll be speaking to Steve again next week.

Is this now a regular weekly slot on us, does anyone know about this?

It would be fantastic if it is.

I have Emailed Talk Sport requesting some info' this is potentially great for the club if it runs on and on.

And who is Steve...............???

Just received email from the producer of Hawksbee & Jacobs who has confirmed this is a regular feature and tends to happen between 2.50pm and 3.50pm each week and last's around 1 minute.

Apparently Steve is a fan of Canvey who got in touch with Talk Sport when one of the presenters mentioned (jokingly) who cares about Canvey? and Steve rang in to say "I do".

So each week Talk Sport are giving a little section to life in Park Lane.

What a touch <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Who is Steve we need to know and thank him for this brilliant publicity <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

Well Hornchurch used to advertise on Talksport so would be nice to get a bit of publicity ourselves.

Those Hornchurch adverts were so misleading. A bloke with a really enthusiastic saying things like "Watch the Mighty Hornchurch in an Epic Battle". In the background was loads of clapping and cheering.

Imagine turning up at their place with no atmosphere, a bloody great running track round the pitch, to watch record signing Bertie Brayley against someone like Croydon!

That's true yellow but it wasn't about football it was some ranting looney shouting about getting down to the theatre of bankrupt double glazed windows and doors and not at all in the long term interest of the club or the supporters!!

Our little bit of publicity is about football and supporters and it's free.

Who is Steve.........???

I see your point Chris but to be fair, at the time, it was part of a big marketing exercise, which did have an all round posiive effect so please do not tie us all in with the same brush so to speak.

Whilst on I wish all the CIFC lads well and as Yellow knows aim to come and see a game at some stage.

cheers

Get yourself hooked on H+J, it's cult listening and that crappy station that that bloke wokes for will play Coldplay in the next hour anyway
