Enfield secretary Mark Wiggs has resigned as from monday. James Harding will fill this role on a temporary basis. We thank mark for all his hard work in the difficult times the club has been in. Mark will of course continue his valued support for enfield.

I would like to correct something that is stated by the departing secretary.

Derek left before Terry and Ed Penn was the Secretray before you Mark.

Dont try to make it appear Derek left the club in a mess and you had to take over because that was not the case.

Ed done a good job as well for someone who had know idea what he was doing, along with Terry and others they did well to keep things going.

It was a hard time,we putting in a lot of time and money to keep things going.

You may have done a good job since the club was returned to the supporters but you were not the man that started it all off.

I wish The new man all the best I dont have a clue who he is but lets hope he knows what he is doing.

Ed was not the sec he was the general manager with Derek as secretary who had taken over from the late Keith Hughes and yes I had to take it over because if I had not at the time there was no one else at the club who would, and when did I say "I started it all off & Derek left it in a mess" Del is a mate & I know Del did not leave it in a mess he left for his own reasons which I know about as I have spoken to him on many occasions since he left for some very helpfull advice and yes Ed did do a good job as I know because I have been helping at the club for a few years now so if you have a problem with my statement up top pm me with your name and problem and I will be happy to speak to you if you if you don’t have a problem with me knowing who is talking rubbish as i would at least like to know who i am speeking to and corecting.

A pity that some of those who are quick to have a go at someone are never quick to do the job!!

Well said BrunoB. It seems Mark put his 'time and effort where his mouth was' and stepped into the breach to help the club in times of need, rather than being like one of those 'career' club officals, who first and foremost do the job to satafy their own self interests.

maybe you should have worded this better then

No one has to do a job, there are always alternatives, if you never wanted the job you should have not done it.

Check the facts Ed was Sec after Derek, working with Terry who was manager, Kit Man, Tea Boy and Chairman after Tony left.

The two of them were running the club on there own. before the current set up arrived from Boreham Wood.

............
There was another thread I read on here somewhere about how long people had been supporters it got me wondering.

I think Mark has done a superb job in the time he has been Secretary. I know several people were offered the post after Derek left and turned it down, including myself! The club wouldn't be where it is (i.e. on the way back up from years in the doldrums) if it wasn't for people like Mark prepared to put the time and effort in to keep the club on a stable footing.

Enfield were a once great club who fell on poorer times, culminating in the mass exodus to form Enfield Town. When a club hits hard times, and volunteers/helpers are few, it needs the unsung heroes to pull it through. Mark is certainly one of those.

Mark has done a great job since taking over, and even though he did not want the position hase given his all to it and we needed that.

I was also offered the job by Terry Back but held the Secretaries position at Cheshunt at the time and decided to stay and support Andy Leese as i felt it was not the right time for me at Enfield.

I will say that Whoever Very Sad is they do have there facts nearly correct but not quite.

When Derek left Terry approached me and offered me the position, I did help Ed Penn get the paperwork in order to confirm fixtures ect as there was no one else around apart from him Terry and a lady who's name I cannot remember in the office at Bath Road.

This ws not because Derek had left it in a mees beause he had not, Ed was in practice the secretary but was the General Manager with me and Terry doing paperwork. I was also Secretary at Cheshunt and the Ryman league were fully aware of the fact as well. well The Secretary was.

As I am at present not with a club it does not matter who knows now I for one dont care who knows. Mark took over some time after i beleive after the meeting that was held at Enfield Rangers.

And as ststed above has done a good job, even though myself and he have fallen out of late, the club needed a Secretary and he has done a good job.

I also good luck to James its a big job that i am sure he is up to.

Ed was general manager when Back was there .I dont ever remember Ed being club sec , Mark did the job when Bird went .And Freebird the woman you cant think of was Larraine Fisher. I do remember lazarou making Ed board chairman(whatever that was)before the club split in two. Thats the only two positions Ed had to my knowledge.

The fact that Rob.B went to watch Cheshunt on Saturday rather than EFC, shows that there is some sort of failing out.It seems Rob and Mark fell out over the u18's situation, and is probably the reason why Rob (a higly experienced matchday secratary) was overlooked when the position became available.

Mark says that J. Harding will fill the role on a tempory basis.Mmm

Watch this space.

Tony Edd was the Club Secretary as well even if it was only for a few weeks beacuse i was in the office with him and terry when a call came in asking who was the club Secretary after Derek left and Ed was the only one apart from Terry and me and i could not do it as i was at Cheshunt.

as i say it may have only ben for a few weeks but Ed was club Secretary, also it was not Lorraine Fisher it was an older lady who worked in the office at barth road and was secretary for Laz as well
