This week's Gazette has a piece on Mr Back. Among a number of quotes he says:

"Tony's enthusiasm for the club sold it to me completely. He is very ambitious and wants this club to go places".

You'd think by now that the non-League world would have cottoned on to the fact that Tony's ambitions and Tony's achievements are often worlds apart. As for going places, he's already taken the club to Hendon, St Albans, Harrow, Borehamwood and Bishop's Stortford. Where next?

Where next you ask?

Try Hertford Town.

Not very likely as HTFC ground needs too much spending on it get the necessary A grade. This would have to be a long term deal with Enfield putting up money for the redevelopment. HTFC aren't a wealthy club.

Although I suppose that Enfield may not be a Prem side for ever and Hertford have a B grade.

Zak, me old china, you're missing the point completely.

Our messiah is only looking to ground share with a club where he can get his hands on a freehold or long-term lease. That way, he'll be able to merge the clubs a year or two down the line and then relocate them elsewhere to facilitate the re-development of the football ground as a result of a quickly run-up debt mountain that he will manufacture. Quotes like "We need to sell our ground to avoid financial ruin", etc., will be brought out of mothballs.

Fantasy? Of course not - he's done it once already and Hertford could be his next victim. West Street is a nice site, although the flood plain would be a problem to a proper 'property developer'. Let's hope the Hedley's turn down his offer.

As to the B-grade malarcky, Tone doesn't give a flying [****!!****] at which level EFC play at. Ryman Prem or Pub League Division 3 - it doesn't matter 'cos he doesn't have to watch the rubbish. Hence the appointment of Terry Back.

Generally speaking, if he had to volunteer for relegation to relocate to a B-grade ground in order to make a few bob, do you honestly believe he'd think about maintaining our club's status. Understand the man & fear for our future: be afraid, vary afraid.

Can Laz be described as a 'proper property developer'?

You can't build on Hertford Town because:

1. The land floods
2. Green belt restrictions

So Tone might eye it up, but it won't happen...why not go for Ware instead? Nice ground (to use for 1 season only ofcourse), direct motorway access to London, with panaramic views of the Hertfordshire countryside and a recently built sports centre on your (prospective) front door...

I have got one serious point to make...what is happening to the land opposite Southbury Road, namely the old Safeways store? Call be niave, but it's been empty for ages (I haven't been past in a couple of months though) it's got a ready made car park, is big enough for a stadium (albeit small - but perfectly formed!) and would have no issues with local residents as there aren't any!

I know I dream, but from dreams empires are built!

But the land is zoned as retail/industrial, not leisure, so you couldn't get planning permission for a football stadium on it.

This is what allegedlay scuppered the other bit of of ground that was mooted, behind Eros, on the A10 retail park.

Of course Eros is retail/industrial isn't it?
