A bright opening from finchley with three early chances that went begging. On 26 minutes nathan smith got a shot on target but Ed thompson was equal to it .A great run by yougster Jamie Abbott almost put Es ahead on 29 minutes but a brilliant save by thompson finger tipping it wide, on 37 minutes a great chance for smith when he headed over a pin point cross from close range .On 39 minutes a good shout for a penalty for finchley with a clumbsy tackle from nick turner going unpunished(you see them given for less). 42 minutes danny clarke shot well wide. In the second half Nathan smith cut in from the wing with a great run and Ed thompson just managed to smother at nathans feet. 50 minutes Danny clarke got in on a 1 on 1 from an acute angle but hammered his shot straight at thompson. Two minutes later a header from kevin kilroy was blocked on the line by Guy norris . Kevin had another chance with a header on 65 minutes but Thompson saved to his right .On 76 minutes Jeff Hammond got behind the back four and a miraculous tip over from thompson kept this one out. On 81 minutes a long range effort from paul linger took a deflection off nick turner and bounced off lee robinsons crossbar ,A let off for Es . On 85 minutes good work from hammond and lee allinsons header just went over the bar. on 87 minutes a blatant handball by a finchley defender in the box was not given to the disgust of everyone behind the goal. A good performance tonight but frustrating for us all with 2 more points squandered. Att 108.

Another match that we deserved to win but didn't.
But this was down to their keeper with some fine saves .

Two very tricky games coming up next. Arlesey seem unpredicable. Borehamwood the following saturday will be very tough. Our guys will have to be at their very best over there.

Planks - Chris Bangura is scoring well at the moment but is a VERY dirty player! The defence at Boreham Wood are vulnerable but not in the air - Some tall specimens (including Stevenson). Get the ball to Clarke and run at them and you have a chance. Town looked good against them until we made a schoolboy error and let Ian Cooper in. Ian Cooper, Bangura and Daryl Cox for the planks is an adequate strike team. It must be about time Bangura and his antics got him suspended.
