Hornchurch 2 Tilbury 0

Urchins

Recommended Posts

A better performance today against an in form Tilbury side.

Steve Jones gave us the lead with a cracking goal from the corner of the penalty area after 25 minutes. Before that, though, Tilbury's Louie Evans missed a great opportunity when clean through. Several chances went begging in the first half and with better finishing may have gone in better off at the interval.

The second half was much the same with Jones completing the scoring with a header in the 72nd minute.

Line-up:- Wood, McGowan, Bates, Jopson, Rothon, Marsden, Fox, Cowley, Jones (Price 90), Cripps (Tungate 85), Martin.

According to half the morons from the "little" teams that we play against week in week out, Jonah's a waste of money! Who's laughing now, jealous bunch of twats!! As usual class shines through, up the Urchins and keep banging 'em in Jonah!!!!

Full Credit to Mick and Gary for changing the tactics with Rizzo missing. Thought Jonah looked class and a threat throughout the game and for the first time this season ( in the league) we looked like creating chance after chance. Thought the two wide players played well and in his words gave Jonah the amo. <img src="/forums/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

I agree with all the comments made on this subject, but we all know that when all the players are available that Mick will have to play 3-5-2 to accomodate players that must play, there is no way when fit that the back 3 wont be Mars,Rizzo and Joppo and that is right because we have the best defensive record in the league. Would anybody care to differ with this??? There are then lots of other players to put into the other 5 outfield places with the 2 forwards always going to be Jonah and Taff.

I agree but its good to know that if its not working and we need to push on to get a result we can change to a four four two maybe with Joppo as a left back with Riz and Mars central. Im sure Jonah will prefer playing with wide midfield players getting some crosses in.

Too right, Jonah needs service from the wings, not long punts down the middle. Jonah has never been that sort of player, you will get the best out of him with crosses and balls to feet, not long balls played from the back, leaving him chasing balls all day long. And as wide players go, for me, Craig's the man to fill one of those positions, wing back Gavin on the other???

Surely the key to success is not to go with a rigid playing formation,

4-4-2 may be great against the weaker teams or at home, but 3-5-2 provides greater midfield and defensive cover. I'd favour 3-5-2 any day against the stronger teams or when football is difficult on a cold, blowy, winters day?

Lets face it teams will soon get a feel for our tactics if we play the same way every week and will try to out number the two in midfield.
