Conroy

Sutton United from being at Crystal Palace only a year ago is not a step up in his career that is for sure. I do hope he does well there and can come back to Canvey and challenge for a 1st team place as having seen him in the reserves a couple of times, I do feel he's a decent player.

Good luck to him, not sure he was ready for Conference football with us (didn`t have many chances to be honest) but he`s a good player.

Do you think Sutton will buy him?

They do have training and reserve matches as well as first team games to judge people on. I never said Conroy wasn`t good enough because i haven`t seen enough of him to give that opinion but the people who do see him train and play thought it would be better for him to move and that`s what happened.

Was very impressed with him in pre season and was glad that we had signed him. But what iv'e seen of him in the reserves, he had been very dissapointing IMHO. If he had been playing well for the reserves then he would of got his chance in the 1st team.

Going out on loan will be the best thing for him as he will be playing competitive 1st team football and hopefully that will work out well for the club too as he'll come back match fit and hungrey to get in our 1st team.

On performances so far I think it's very likely that John Rains would want the move to be permanent however we are awful payers so Conroy may not be up for it himself, although he is a reasonably local lad.

I would doubt that we would pay a transfer fee either but you never know.

Anyway, I enjoyed my last visit to the island, just to remind some of the junior members or newer fans posting above, that was the game we won to end Canvey's unbeaten run, great game it was too, not that I'm biting or anything you see!

Good luck for the rest of the season and seeing as we took Quinton back I think it's only fair that you let us keep JC for a little while!

Oh - so you must be one of the Sutton forum regulars that demanded a copy of the game on DVD or video as soon as you got home! - not that I'm biting anyway I don't remember it being that great a game for some reason.........

I knew i`d read this somewhere...

"Also joining is former Crystal Palace trainee Jay Conroy on loan from Canvey Island, with the intention of making the move permanent if everything works out. Jay, 19, is a right-back, although he played in a central position for us in a pre-season game at Dulwich in 2004 after leaving Selhurst Park"

Indeed my name was straight on the list for the DVD, good quality it is too.

The game wasn't really that great, Boylan's missed penalty, ours taken 3 times and a great goal fom Tobi Jinadu (now at Aldershot) provided the highlights. You guys ran away with the league and had that tremendous unbeaten run and we ended up finishing second, worth nothing at the time and every other bugger came in and nicked our players!

Unlikely at the moment but I hope that our paths cross again in the conf proper.
