Saturday's Music

YELLOW

Recommended Posts

On Saturday I will be playing a tribute to the late great John Lennon who was shot dead 25 years ago today.

All tracks played at half time will be Lennon or Beatles' related in tribute to one of the greatest singer/songwriters of his generation.

Top man. I shall look forward to that and totally agree with your words regarding John Lennon as he is without a doubt one of the greatest singer songwriters of all time as you say.

Love the Beatles but have to say that I am more of a Stones man to be honest. I actually saw Paul McCartney in St. John's Wood during the Summer when queuing to get into the Test match at Lord's - he lives round the corner from the ground and was chatting to some bloke outside his house, totally oblivious to the queue of amazed people not expecting to see Paul McCartney standing next to them at 8.30am whilst queuing up to go into a cricket match.

Being a rock fan, my mate and myself always say how good the music that is played at Canvey is. Keep up the good work fella!!!

IT MUST ONLY BE THE BEATLES + MAYBE IMAGINE

I KNOW PEOPLE WHO WOULD CONSIDER IT BLASPHEMY AND A REAL INSULT TO MENTION THE BEATLES AND A CERTAIN GROUP FROM MUGCHESTER IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH! LET ALONE COMPARE THE TWO.

SOME OF YOU NOT OF THAT GENERATION MAY BE FORGIVEN FOR YOUR JUVENILE IGNORANCE, DO NOT MAKE YOURSELF LOOK FOOLISH!!!!

I DO HOPE WE ALL AGREE!!

There should only be one group playing this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Lennon/Beatles tribute at half time was excellent. Great to listen to music that is not the mindless pop that is churned out at most football grounds these days and well looking forward to hearing my requests next week thank you Yellow!!!

Does anybody (or more to the point is anybody old enough) to remember when they used to have bands play before matches in the 60's and early 70's? The Hammers had a band that played before games and at half time for many years and I also recall the Metropolitan Police Band playing at Highbury when they used to march at half time and the conducter used to throw his baton high in the air and catch it as they marched. I can't think of any teams now that have bands - Wembley used to have one before games and maybe may again possibly when it opens again but that is such a bygone era now that it seems centuries ago.

Anybody think of anything else you used to see at football back then that you either do not have now or see anymore?
