Enfield 1 - 2 Berkhamsted Town.

Enfield fell deeper into the relegation mire following a very poor match today. The curious absence of nick Turner and Danny clarke certainly didn't help matters. A bright opening for both sides with 2-3 half chances apiece and a good save from enfields steve wright on 20 mins. But on 32 mins a startled enfield defence conceded a freekick from what looked a fair challenge. It was to be a fine strike by Jean -paul Manta into the bottom corner 0-1. Back came enfield with some period of possession and a series of corners that none of which troubled David Clark in berkhamsted's goal. But on 44 mins some good work from Danny Gabriel and owen Beale set up Lee Allinson to hammer a low shot into David clarks net 1-1. The second half saw berkhamsted have much the better of the exchanges and on several occaisions looked dangerous when going forward .A stamping on michael spencer by Mohammad khan wasn't seen by the officials and michael had to be carried off. Then an even more disgraceful challenge on owen beale by mohammad khan saw a 20 man brawl erupt , When things settled Khan was righly shown a straight red and visitors carl kavanagh also booked . Kevin kilroy was also booked for his involvement.Sherwin stanley bundled the ball into the bekhamsted net from nathan smiths cross but was ruled out for an alleged hand of god . But even with a man down berkhamsted still looked the more dangerous and more aggressive .And on 74 mins another late challenge and another brawl with a booking on both sides (couldn't see who ) with a dozen or so players in this skirmish. with time running out berkhamsted hit the bar from close range and a bad miss late on. Enfield almost snatched it with Danny Gabriels fine run from the right but Clark got a boot on the ball and it rolled agonisingly wide. But when your luck is out fate just kicks you in the teeth. A through ball in the 90th min saw all E's defenders stop waiting for the offside flag which never came. Jean -paul Manta fired into the bottom corner. Enfields players were furious and Kevin kilroy was sent off (2nd yellow for arguing) Kevin Lucas was also sent from the dug out , Just before the final whistle blew.
I have to say it was another poor display , And I feel for our fans who were gutted at the way in which the game was lost. Russ ,M K James who always almost turn up from milton keynes in particular.
